Rand Paul believes in taking Individual American Freedom away!
Edited on Thu May-20-10 07:30 PM by FrenchieCat
Rand Paul believes that I, as an individual, have no right to be dealt with by those businesses who decide that I'm not worthy in their eyes if they so choose.

In otherwords, he'd rather limit my freedoms,
than to limit the freedom of business owners.

So Rand Paul doesn't respect nor support individual American liberties,
only the liberty of commerce to do business how it sees fit.

1. I hope people start refusing to serve him
and then see if he falls back on the same laws that he says he disagrees with.

2. He contradicts even Libertarians.......
Because in essence, their only strong selling point is that of Individual freedom.

As a Black person, he is telling me that I should only be able to choose to do commerce
with those who will have me. He is, in fact, restricting my choices, i.e., my freedom
to do as I choose.

5. I had a good friend who gave a perfect speech describing Libertarians as a CULT...
And he was right. If you look at what libertarians believe and how they believe, they do resemble a cult.

8. Your fears seem about right.
When did businesses get personhood?

Dear God. What ah hellish worldview, eh?

It seems to me that Libertarians, and Rand in particular (I can pull literature if need be), fetishize the individual rights of money earners (be they singular persons or corporate persons) over those of the basic citizenry. No doubt a view which has troubling consequences. You're right to be frightened, appalled, angered.

Please know, Frenchie, that I saw your comment on my post about the (over)use of the charge "racist/racism." I appreciate what you wrote there, as I've appreciated your posts over the years. My only point--a rather simple one--was not to judge the ends of a person's (mis)conceived thoughts as their intentions. Your post here encapsulates all of my fears of the Randian position. He's a corporatist before he's a racist. We're all objects in his eyes (though the minority in this country no doubt has far more worries about being an object/chattel than those in the racial/ethnographic majority). In other words, your concerns expressed in the other thread are duly noted.
