Emergency response, gas prices, post-Katrina rebuilding, is there anything Bush hasn’t screwed up?
From Think Progress:

“The rebuilding effort in tornado-ravaged Greensburg, KS, likely will be hampered because some much-needed equipment is in Iraq, said that state’s governor. Governor Kathleen Sebelius said much of the National Guard equipment usually positioned around the state to respond to emergencies is gone.”

Gasoline prices have surged to a record nationwide average of $3.07 per gallon, nearly 20 cents higher than two weeks earlier,” analysts say. “The previous record was $3.03 per gallon on Aug. 11, 2006.”

<…>

“The weekend blitz of tornadoes in Kansas and the Plains puts 2007 on track to be one of the busiest and deadliest tornado years in a decade, severe-storms meteorologists said Sunday. ‘Even if the year stopped right now, it would be the deadliest year we’ve had since 1999,’ said Greg Forbes, severe-weather expert for The Weather Channel.”

“Some of the most celebrated levee repairs by the Army Corps of Engineers after Hurricane Katrina are already showing signs of serious flaws,” one expert says, warning that heavy storms may cause “tear-on-the-dotted-line levees.”

1. Everything bushco touches turns to SHT.
I'm certain it is intentional.

In 1999 he said he would "JAWBONE" the oil producing countries into selling us cheaper crude, looks like he is not a good JAWBONER either

Studying Bush's Jaw

I saw Bush on TV today and his jaw was jerking and jutting as usual. Sometimes I think it's going to come unhinged. It jerks to the left most often and occasionally it juts forward as he pauses between words.

Sometimes he can almost stop the involuntary jaw movements by clamping his lips together during a pause, but even then his jaw sometimes manages to jerk a little bit.

It's quite fascinating so I conducted a Google search and found that this is a side effect of drug use. Drugs prescribed for the treatment of schizophrenia can cause involuntary jaw movements, as can amphetamines and the drug ecstasy.

I found the following in Alcohol Handbook: Chapter 11:

"The effects of ecstasy are quite similar to those found with amphetamines, although it is reported that ecstasy produces a more positive mood and sense of intimacy than amphetamines.

PHYSICAL EFFECTS: Involuntary jaw movements; jaw clenching; teeth grinding "

Between bush's jawbone failure and cheney's super secret energy screwing policy, it's no wonder oil and gas prices are so damn high.

4. "...high gas prices are the sign of a failed presidency.." - DICK Cheney, 1998.
I've been able to find only one reference to this quote. Anybody else out there have more on this classic , (and surprisingly poignant), Cheny quote?

5. He was extremely successful
- in avoiding a drug test while in the National Guard (by deserting) and
- he did a great job of profiting from insider trading while at Harken.

Things happen when he puts his mind to it.

6. A perfect storm
Bush has created a perfect storm of disasters. Starting at noon January 20, 2009, the new Democratic President is going to have a massive and monumental task. I hope we will all be patient, because the damage will not be undone overnight.
