Hypocrisy at critical mass: Rep. Souder And Mistress Recorded Video Praising Abstinence Education

Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) had an affair with a part-time staffer named Tracy Jackson, Fox is reporting. Jackson played the role of interviewer for a Souder Web video show on the issues of the day -- including one on the value of abstinence.

Dubbed "Congressional Update with Congressman Mark Souder," the show hit on issues like intelligent design and fencing the border.

In the November 2009 abstinence video, Jackson introduces Souder this way: "You've been a longtime advocate for abstinence education and in 2006 you had your staff conduct a report entitled 'Abstinence and its Critics' which discredits many claims purveyed by those who oppose abstinence education."

Souder announced today he is resigning effective Friday. According to Legistorm, Jackson first came on Souder's payroll in late 2004 with the title "Special Assistant/Communications."

So, abstinence education means get married first and THEN go at it with anyone you want? Sounds like liberals are pretty tame compared to social conservatives like Souder.

7. I'm gonna get flamed but Telling kids not to sleep around and doing it as

an adult I think are two different things.

Yes he is a slut. Yes he should probably keep his mouth shut on the issue. But not wanting kids to sleep around has more to do with kids not being able to handle the consequences of sleeping around...both emotional and physical.

While I don't think abstinence only education works, I don't see where he is being a hypocrite where abstinence only education is concerned.

Where being a hypocrite comes in is if he was running around parading as a family values guy and saying how being an adulterer was bad and beating on Clinton and other Democratic Party politicians for being unfaithful to their spouses.

Then I'd yell hypocrite. I don't doubt that he' beat up Bill Clinton and other Democrats for being subhuman adulterers...that is where the hypocrisy lies. That would be worth trumpeting.

My first thought when I see this thread is that there is nothing to see here...move along.

You may not like what I just said but I have the balls to say it. I don't even know the guy or like him, shit he's a republican so right there I'll work to find every real reason to hate him. He slept around on his wife and that is plenty but hypocrisy on abstinence only education. I just don't see it.

Other than the bandwagon effect why would this thread even be recommended for the greatest page?
