It's been a marketing ploy from the get-go.

There's a sucker born every minute.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/5/16/866961/-Mitch-McConnell-admits-tea-partyGOP

"Have you ever noticed the similarity between what the GOP has done with the tea party movement and what Blackwater attempted to do in renaming itself Xe? I guess you have to hand it to Republicans: after spending eight years soiling their brand beyond repair, at least they had the good sense to try and change their name. Unfortunately for them, they're still the same old guys, standing for the same old things, and as long as Democrats follow President Obama's lead in pointing this out (and as long as President Obama follows his own lead), November won't be anything for the GOP to remember."

Yup.

1. It's been a marketing ploy from the get-go.
It was, but after they served their usefulness the GOP no longer seems to have a firm control over them.

Now their existence threatens the GOP's old guard, and I bet many Republicans in DC are wondering who let the crazies out of the asylum.

5. I really think the teabaggers are repukes who escape the control of the rich GOP masters.
They are trying to get back into control of the teabaggers and since these people love FREEDOM it is hard for them to do.
