IS THIS THE NEW 'NORMAL'?
104 troops killed in April...25 in less than a week in May

And that doesn't include those horribly maimed or injured for life...

April was the the worst month in 2007 and May looks to be no better.

1821 Iraqis confirmed dead in April (the real number is definitely higher, probably thrice that)
256 civilians confirmed dead in 6 days

The RW capitalist media continues to prevaricate and cover-up. One-third of the populace 'supports' the madness! (Will they ever wake up?)

Profits for war mongers, oilmen and their pals at an all-time high while working people struggle.

Nothing changes. This seems like a perpetual, suffocating, nightmarish equilibrium of death and destruction.

IS THIS THE NEW NORMAL?

2. It's been the norm somewhere in the world since time began.
If not oil, then salt, copper, gold, religion, race, or a myriad other reasons!

Just a little closer to home now.

3. Bush asks that you kindly give his plan some more time, and that you trust his judgment.

They're certainly trying to make it the new normal, but I don't think it will work any more. Most of the public has wised up to their nonstop bullshit.

4. Has been ever since I came of political age
I sometimes look at kids who are just becoming adults in this reality and have an urge to go up to them and probe their world view. I turn 28 soon and I started paying serious attention to politics when I was about 22. Hasn't given me much respect for the "system", any system really .

9. They do? I seem to recall soldiers deaths from Iraq service were
only counted when they died in Iraq. When did it change?

I do recall hearing the same thing. But I have seen several press releases and news articles about people dying in Germany, Bethesda, etc. One was at a local hospital in Indiana; had been severely brain damaged; finally died a year after the injury after the family decided not to continue prolonging it.

Here's another recent example:
