BRAVO appreciation thread to all DUers who have been posting the Gulf threads

I have been rec'ing and cut/pasting your links to my friend in Tampa. A totally unpolitical sort who is devastated about the environmental impact to his beloved Gulf. He's a boater and a diver. Has lived on the Gulf his whole life. He has been devastated by the links I send. Last night, he called to thank me for all the information. He said they hear NOTHING locally.

He has never been on the receiving end of a DU news dump before. First time he's experienced hearing all the news days before the mainstream media has figured out how to massage the message and varnish the facts. We are scaring him. Because he is informing his friends, neighbors, co-workers of info before they have access to it. The DU Cassandra effect.

He was very freaked out that so little info was leaking out to him through any other channels. I laughed because this is how all info reaches me and is the only way it has for 10 years!! I forgot though how freaky it could feel to know things others hadn't heard from manistream sources yet.

ANYWAY!!! Thanks to those (and you know who you all are!) who have been posting all the Gulf info! You are the real media on this one. You do the job real news organizations fail to do. KUDO. K & R's to you all for taking the time.

1. Good for you. It's not surprising given that Tampa's media

for the most part is in a right wing chokehold (similar to us here in Jacksonville).
