Sarah's fans are reloading. For real.
Never mind that neither President Obama nor anyone else in his administration has never said word one about "takin' yer guns", Sarah Palin and her ouija board know better. "They would if they could!" she opines to the NRA conventioneers. So far, none of my hunting friends have found it necessary to apply for a permit for carrying a concealed weapon as protection against felonious wildlife.

I have posted here previously about the local gun shop that opened after the last election, and have noted the tenor of encounters with some of the customers who are clearly unhappy about a non-White occupying the White House. Then Palin put one of her rifle crosshairs on our congressional representative. Our nowhere-near-liberal newspaper has finally taken note of our growing gun-toting population:

That's the front page story today. Happy Saturday, y'all.

1. funny thing
my small town had an NRA meeting / picnic at the beach here in one of the pavilions, touting the open carry law that want the city to promote.
One of the guys brought his pistol and 'accidentally' discharged it , on the beach, with little kids and families screaming and scurrying for cover.

it sure made a lot of people mad, and I dont think they will be welcome again in town.

blessing in disguise, I guess.

until one of them discharged his weapon..then all hell broke loose..no one was hurt, thank god, but people ran fast.

5. Accidental discharges can be tragic.....
Looking around, I see a lot of people whose fathers' accidental discharges have caused us all a lot of grief.

15. There are no such things as accidental discharges
only negligent ones.

From both kinds of guns actually.

7. Do you think he fired it on purpose?
Doesn't your town have ordinances against that?

8. If he didn't, he shouldn't be handling a firearm
in my opinion, because he obviously doesn't know how.

2. Support NRA, support Republicans, "conservatives," and Sarah Palin
I wonder how much she was paid for her appearance.

NRA = GOP

16. I'll fix it for you
NRA = GOP & DEMS (as long as their voting records reflect a pro-gun stance, Mayor Bloomberg is a republican and has an F rating from the NRA)

3. I really wish she would just SHUT UP
I mean, really, the she way she's talking, you would think she's running again.

I remember when we has a break between elections when the mud sling stopped for awhile, but not since Palin opened her pie hole and can't seem to shut it back up.

9. "takin' yer guns" well, the President campaign on banning new purchases of popular firearms,...

...., rifles, shotguns, and pistols, in popular configurations and with popular accessories.

AG Holder and SoS Clinton did raise the specter of the banning weapons to law abiding folks early in the Obama administration.

Fortunately, the President and his administrator have not acted on any of their gun banning or accessing restricting rhetoric.

I don't think this inaction was caused by a change in position -- only a recognition that it would cost the party dearly in subsequent elections.

17. They should checks their delusions at the door
These lock-n-loaders imagine their guns will protect them against a "rogue government."

Well, we had a rogue government for eight years. Where were they to protect the Constitution? They cheered on its destruction.

And, look at Iraq. Before 2003, every Iraqi male had at least one weapon. Their popguns didn't protect them against Saddam and didn't protect them against Cheney and Bush. If the gummint wants to get you, your homemade arsenal ain't gonna help. Just ask Udai and Qusai. They had more guns than they knew what to do with.

It's a stupid fantasy.
