Palin calls upon NRA and its "allies" to stop Obama from doing something he's NOT EVEN FUCKING DOING
Palin says Obama would ban guns if he could
By MIKE BAKER and PHILIP ELLIOTT (AP) – 5 hours ago

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin warned NRA members Friday that President Barack Obama wants to gut the Second Amendment and told a separate gathering that "mama grizzlies" will help Republicans win this November, sweeping away the Democratic agenda.

Palin, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, told National Rifle Association members during their annual meeting that the only thing stopping Obama and his Democratic allies from trying to ban guns is political backlash.

"Don't doubt for a minute that, if they thought they could get away with it, they would ban guns and ban ammunition and gut the Second Amendment," said Palin, a lifelong NRA member who once had a baby shower at a local gun range in Alaska. "It's the job of all of us at the NRA and its allies to stop them in their tracks."

Gun enthusiasts have trumpeted fears that their rights would erode under a Democrat-led White House and Congress, but President Barack Obama has largely been silent on issues such as reviving an assault weapons ban or strengthening background checks at gun shows. Obama also signed a law allowing people to carry loaded guns in national parks.

Palin, the GOP's 2008 vice presidential nominee, also praised tea party activism during an appearance in Charlotte, and scoffed at suggestions that the movement had roots in violence, racism or rednecks before adding: "I don't really have a problem with the redneck part of it, to tell you the truth."

She proceeded to read several redneck jokes off her phone and talked about how she could relate to some of them.

During an event earlier Friday in Washington sponsored by an anti-abortion group, she challenged Republican women to help the GOP "take this country back" and elect anti-abortion lawmakers. She praised female leaders of the tea party movement and invoked the 2008 acceptance speech where she compared herself to a pit bull.

"You don't want to mess with moms who are rising up," Palin said at the Susan B. Anthony event. "If you thought pit bulls were tough, you don't want to mess with mama grizzlies."

17. NRA pussies don't know how to hunt
so they use crooked guides to bait and kill bears.

For years, hunters at the Newhalen Lodge in Nondalton have had good chances of bagging a grizzly. Big game guide Fred E. Sims' tactics ensured it, authorities say.

2. If hordes of angry gun-toting black people...
...showed up to protest Bush, waving Nazi photoshopped signs and calling for "revolution" because "they wanted their country back", the National Guard would have been called out to disperse it. With tear gas, water cannon, batons, and bullets.

the New Black Panthers did show up to protest at the Texas Republican Convention without police interference.

Although Fox News did their best to distort and sensationalize the incident (machine guns? Unlikely).

3. On a related note: if McCain had never picked Sarah Palin for VP
Edited on Sat May-15-10 01:05 AM by AmericaIsGreat
She'd still be governor of Alaska; tucked away up there; totally unheard of.

Instead we have a religious zealot/conservative dumb-shit yapping machine making a living off of traveling around the country and feeding gullible people this fear mongering, divisive bullshit during a precarious time. That nomination went straight to her head.

Nice job McCain. Not only did you get your ass waxed in the election but you unleashed this numb-skill Jesus-freak Alaskan hick bitch on us.

6. I blame John McCain totally.
What an idiot he was not to vet her. If his people had talked to ANYONE in Alaska, they would have known what a troublemaker she is. A team player she is not.

7. She was pushed on him, with lots of pressure.
I'm not excusing it, this is yet another example of him making bad decisions, but he didn't pull her out of thin air.

13. Have you read Leonard Zeskind's "Blood and Politics?"...
Blood and Politics: The History of the White Nationalist Movement from the Margins to the Mainstream (2009)

Among the many excellent works on the subject, I found this one particularly interesting and up-to-date. Also check out the Political Research Associates website, if you haven't already; Chip Berlet, Jean Hardisty, and Sara Diamond have some excellent articles there.

White supremacy has been a major factor in this country since the beginning; its current resurgence/manifestation is very serious, and troubling.

19. This is what republicans do, they make up shit. When they're in power
they spend like drunken sailors on shore leave in Naples. Then bitch about the national debt when out of power. In other words they create a big fucking mess, start unnecessary wars, run up the national debt, send our jobs overseas, open the borders so employers can hire cheap labor, etc etc. Then when the voters say enough, they vote in democrats to clean up the mess. This is when the republicans, (when they're not jacking off with no lubrication to pictures in Mad Magazine or having sex with animals) sit back on their hemorrhoid asses and make up shit. They'll point their brown stained finger at the democrats for having the balls to do what's necessary to keep the country running.

The sad part about all this is, voters are dumb and will put these right wing idiots that created the mess back into power.

21. Fortunately, Obama has not acted on any of his promises to increase gun control laws
Edited on Sat May-15-10 06:55 AM by aikoaiko
I am sure the massive panic buying of guns and ammo after his election showed him that this issue was important to a lot of voters who would certainly retaliate at the polls should he continue his anti-gun rhetoric and positions as a Illinois legislature or carried out his campaign promises "make guns childproof", preventing private sales at gunshows, and reauthorizing the assault weapons ban which banned the purchase of popular rifles, pistols, and shotguns in popular configurations.

The Brady Center and VPC are much chagrined.

Of course, if Obama said or did something along the lines of promising no new federal gun bans and lifted the current federal gun bans, it would really put the shut-up on the NRA.

24. Without fear of confiscation, the NRA would cease to exist.
The NRA has no reason to stop claiming that the government is coming for people's firearms. It's how they keep their membership up.
