RALEIGH -- A Superior Court judge will hear arguments today whether two recent Wake County school board votes against busing for diversity should be thrown out because of allegations state law was violated.

A group of Wake County residents contends that the school board majority has violated the state's Open Public Meetings Law by refusing to move recent board meetings to larger venues despite knowing there would be large crowds in attendance.

The plaintiffs, backed by several civil rights groups such as the ACLU of North Carolina and the state NAACP, argue that the court should ditch March 23 and May 4 votes against the diversity policy. They also want the court to order the board to move future meetings to larger venues.
