What are the odds, in your opinion? If not Jeb, who?

1. No. There truly is 'Bush fatigue', unlike the non-existent Clinton fatigue. nt

2. The Repubs will have to wait and see what Obama does
If he runs, they'll use a throwaway candidate.

If he doesn't, they'll take it seriously.

14. What makes you think Obama won't run?
Did anyone ever question whether any of the previous 4 or 5 OTHER presidents, Republican or Democrat, would run for a second term? I don't recall anyone assuming that even GWB would step down after his term.

I wonder why this idea keeps popping up. Are people here hoping he hangs it up in 2012 out of shame or fear or something?

It's not as if he's managed to usher in unprecedented legislation or anything like that. I guess since his administration has zero accomplishments thus far, he might as well pack it in.

5. He is trying to position himself as the 'insider' who can tame the teaparty
Edited on Wed May-12-10 03:06 PM by JCMach1
mob...

SO the answer is yes and no... IF Obama looks vulnerable, he will run. JEBtm is also not afraid to lose. He would try to cement 2 shots at the POTUS by completely taking over the tea party.

It does take much imagination. Just look what he did in FL.

12. No, but I think he would be a Vice-Presidential candidate
And if they win, someone with ties to the Bush family will just kill the President. Hell, they tried that with Reagan.

16. I think the odds are pretty low
Jeb's got two main problems: the Bushes have a track record in that job, and it's not good. That's the first; the second is Jeb himself is corrupt. The only reason they might want to run Jeb in 2012 is if they're trying to throw the election again, and the mess Shrub made of the country almost mandates that they do.

Right now, though, I don't know ANYONE in the GOP who's electable in 2016. Palin's a nonentity, Bachmann is worse, Lindsey Graham is a million years old...
