The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is investigating last week’s death of an airman at his home on Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.

Base officials would not say what caused the May 6 death of Master Sgt. William Gales, 41, who was an end of runway supervisor with the 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron of the 49th Fighter Wing.

“Members of Team Holloman are saddened by the loss of one our own,” wing commander Col. Jeff Harrigian said in a statement, which also noted the OSI investigation. “Kathy and I want to extend our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. They should know we are grateful for his service to the Air Force, his country and Team Holloman. He will be missed.”
