The new meme re: gushing oil.

A reich wing friend who always brings a great bottle of scotch, is a rabid Rush and Sean fan. he comes over to compare notes, and argue against the fascist communist socialist guy who was really born in Kenya. His latest story?

most oil leaks out naturally in the ocean. Lots of it. in fact, this itty bitty leak represents only 00.5% of what happens naturally every day. I showed him the satellite imagery showing a slick covering the Gulf. He sat back, thought, and said, "wow." Then he went back to his Rush-based memes, and denied that the leak is a problem.

Anyway, it was a refreshing discussion. Plus, he brings GREAT scotch, and he does try to listen to my points, and on occasion, real facts.

You're a stronger man that I am, Gunga CA. Let us know what your friend has to say when the slick makes real landfall. So far, it's just been barrier islands and some tar balls. But in a few more days or a week or so, it's going to make the grease pit at the local Jiffy Lube look pristine.

you should start explaining how every day he goes outside, he gets urine and fecal matter on his shoes, that this is a completely normal and natural thing. Then pee on his shoes and ask if that made a difference.
