Norman Goldman mentioned another area of fallout from the BP horror --
land values of people who live in the area. Good luck trying to sell a home with the smell of oil hanging in the air, the waterfront poisoned and polluted. Destroying so many lives, all for the $$$.

1. yep, another consequence;
though, as hard and unfair as it is for the victims, it pales compared to the wildlife destruction and suffering

were already halved by the real estate collapse, but now a lot of folks will really be screwed. We aren't looking to sell ours, been going there for almost 30 years, but I'm heartbroken about what this will do to the beautiful beaches and pristine wildlife areas near there. This is devastating and I feel for the people who live there full time and will lose SO much. :(

I only hope this wakes up some of the folks who went along with offshore drilling not realizing what the consequences could be. Big Oil has been on such a propaganda campaign in these last years, acting like they really care about the environment and clean energy. They have perfected the Repub strategy of putting a nice face on an
uncaring corporate greed machine.
