Romney: Pat Robertson ‘Strengthens And Nurtures The Pillars Of Our Country’
Former governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) delivered the commencement address today at Pat Robertson’s Regent University, praising the televangelist who has repeatedly spouted hateful and bigoted remarks.

From the excerpts of Romney’s speech released this morning:

“This university, its students, its alumni and the faculty serve as an example of Dr. Robertson’s dedication to strengthening and then nurturing the pillars of this community and our country: education, fellowship, and advancement.”

1. Is it certain he said 'pillars'
and not "pillocks"?

2. Opposite of what I think about Pat Robertson - he's Satan's little helper
Edited on Sat May-05-07 02:21 PM by EOO
All he does is swindle money from old people, make our country stupider by influencing right-wing politicians about his Master Plan, and further the Christofascist agenda..

7. You forgot the Justice Department and Robertson's Blood Diamonds
connections. McCain and Rommey are pandering to the far religious right.

22. that will be a tough sell for both. McCain called them nuts in 2000 and Romney is a Mormom
which is anathema to most evangelical Christians.

Couldn't find that in the Bible.

4. Apparently, Romney will do anything to win the presidency.
Christianity is the new capitalism. Creepy, isn't it?

6. Romney and the other 9 Reps
running for the presidency have taken a leaf out of the Bush bible. Christianity has nothing to do with it. They are preaching to the most gullible segment of the US. Those who decry "big government" but want to dictate to the entire country what we can or can not do, regardless of the constitution. We have had to listen to that crap from the White House Tower of "Babble" far too long and they just keep on. We have almost lost our country and are facing the same things we wanted to get rid of when the first ship hit Plymouth Rock. The only Republican I can remember that was any good was Dwight Eisenhower and that was because he mostly played golf.

10. Good points, all
I do think it has something to do with Christianity. It's a pity that these heretics who control "Christian" business and political empires have defined "Christianity" in recent decades.

Wherever the true Christians are -- I wish they'd come out of hiding and take back their faith.

9. If this mofo can say shit like this with a straight face
it's obvious he has a very low opinion of his fellow amurkins. He thinks millions of us are so fuckin dumb we'd react positively to such a statement. Robertson's "university" and its law "school" are rated at or near the bottom of all US institutions of higher learning. My guess is it's a brainwashing factory to turn out little biblebots for the bushies to staff government agencies with. Just like the justice dept revelations are proving daily. It's a shame that these repubs are betting their political futures on the collective low IQ's of the amurkin people. It'd be even more of a shame if we fell for it.

It's called The Constitution. We have the Bill of Rights. All the rest is happy horseshit and hyperbole.

17. Maybe through fraud
There was another DUer who had an interesting theory. The people Bob Perry (?) funds always seem to win the nomination. Then again, I think the nominee is chosen for the Reps and possibly us regardless of how they actually voted.

20. Look who's there now. At least Romney can speak in complete sentances.
Romney's an empty suit and a great haircut with nothing underneath but he projects that sunny Reaganesque optomism-no doubt he's worked hard at it--that Republicans absolutely love.

I despise the SOB but I could definately see him winning the GOP nomination and then shamelessly transforming himself into Mr. Moderate once again to win the general election.

Like Bush he has no loyalty except to his own ambition and that makes him dangerous.
