Federal judge rejects bid to halt pot clinic ban

SANTA ANA, Calif.—A federal judge has refused to prevent two Orange County cities from banning medical marijuana dispensaries.

U.S. District Judge Andrew Guilford has rejected a request for a preliminary injunction against the cities of Lake Forest and Costa Mesa.

Four disabled medical marijuana users have sued the cities, claiming the dispensary bans violate their rights under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

But in a ruling last Friday, Guilford said the drug is still illegal under federal law and isn't covered by the disabilities act.
