Christian Right rally with big names flops (Expected 8000 people, but got no more than 300)
Edited on Mon May-03-10 04:02 PM by ck4829
Early this morning, I went to the heavily promoted, “May Day 2010: A Cry To God For A Nation In Distress.” It was organized by Janet Porter who is best known for running the failed “ex-gay” Truth in Love ad campaign in 1998.

The event was a bust. Less than 300 (not official count, but my own estimate) people turned out in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington today to hear a star-studded line-up of evangelists and right wing political leaders. Organizers claimed from the stage that the event cost $70,000, so they had clearly expected an impressive turnout. The big names included the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins, Generals International’s Cindy Jacobs, Porno Pete Labarbera, Bob Knight and Alan Keyes.

On their site, they took a photo of the sky rather than of the crowds on the ground. There ain't no rally in the sky, Janet!

6. Oh my, my faith is shattered... why did god desert these people? (s-a-r-c-a-s-m)
I'm glad they had to shell out 70 grand. Its money they won't be able to use in other evil ways.

7. Well, you know why, don't you? Sarah wasn't there!
If she'd been there, they would have had 80,000, for sure! :sarcasm:

But now they'll have to rely on Pox News and other whore-media to inflate the numbers.

Maybe Hannity can pull out his "Tea-Bag 9/12 Rally" photos he used to pump up Michelle Bachmann's rally in November...

24. Yes, where Sarah goes, God follows...
She was sent by God to communicate with us mere mortals. I am so happy God is speaking to us through such a brilliant, articulate, wise, intelligent and all-knowing person like Sarah. We are truly blessed to have her lead us from the darkness, into the light.

9. Ken Blackwell is now a senior fellow at FRC. Didn't know that until he
appeared on Jon Stewart after writing a book about how Obama is subverting the Constitution and becoming tyrannical. You know, all the shit that Bush did.

Unbelievable!! :(

12. Blackwell failed miserably on The Daily Show
He had a good attitude about his appearance. He was fairly loose and jovial. But, he absolutely could not defend his thesis. Stewart very gently, and effectively, pinned Blackwell, repeatedly. He had no answers for how Obama was subverting the Constitution. Apparently he wrote an entire book without content.

17. I needed to have seen the entire interview. Apparently I missed it because it was
posted on the site. I heard it was good and Stewart nailed his ass good. Left him looking stupid, which isn't too hard to do.

I wonder how many in attendance were just drawn to the big stage, not knowing what it was for.

He's like way more 'charismatic' and 'insightful' than even Michael Steele (R). I just don't understand republicons.
