I hope each and every person involved in Tuesday's clash with LAPD
get some kind of justice.

I saw videos of the police attacking people for no reason. The Police even attacked reporters from Telemundo.

24. I would have loved to have been there
Even if it would have meant another night in jail and another morning in urgent care.

3. reminds me of the line from Mulholland Falls...
Guy from CSI: "You can't do this, this is fucking America"
Cop played by Nick Nolte: "This isn't America, This is L.A."

And the cop throws some guy off a cliff on Mulholland Drive to his death,

5. I am so sick and tired of cops over-reacting to lawful protests
From war marches to immigration rallies to using tasers on university students...these officers are out of control.

Who the hell trains them to attack journalists?

Who trains them to do this?

Gotta grab those dangerous Code Pink women, don't you SWAT officer?!

It's insanity.

8. democracynow.com has covered this situation extensively yesterday
see http://www.democracynow.org and scroll down to Thursday's show: Amy Goodman interviewed journalists who were there and attacked by the police.

The interview shows how the whole situation is disgusting and indicative of the basic problem that the LAPD has: they think they're better than the people they're ostensibly hired to protect and serve.

If the cops respected the people they served, then the people would respect the cops.

It's that simple. Why doesn't anyone get it?

22. I have lived in LA for 24 years. I can say without hesitation that MOST
LAPD officers I have encountered have little to no respect for anyone who is not also a cop. And I say this as a white, highly educated medical professional and business owner. If they can't treat me with respect, i can only imagine how they treat the poor and minorities.

I'm glad I did!~

"L.A. mayor condemns rally violence"

"LOS ANGELES - Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa condemned the Police Department's use of force against demonstrators and reporters at an immigration rally, saying he was "deeply, personally troubled" by the clash.

The mayor returned home Friday after cutting short a trade mission to El Salvador and Mexico amid criticism for being out of town since Tuesday's melee at MacArthur Park.

"Like every Angeleno I was deeply, personally troubled by the events of May 1st," the mayor said at City Hall. "Those images hit me in the gut.

"... We don't need a long and lengthy investigation to stand up and speak to the truth. What happened on May 1st was wrong, was wrong," he said."

26. At this point, I'm starting to think they need to fire the entire LAPD
and start fresh. Isn't anyone else tired of hearing about this kind of thing from the LAPD? It's been a constant stream of events for at least the last 20 years. It's obviously a poisoned institutional culture and needs an entire overhaul.
