The silence is deafening
The horrific oil disaster is all we talk about in my house lately, but I haven't heard a peep from the small-government, pro big-business right.

No policy-makers, no pundits or demagogues. Where, oh where have they gone?

The only 'spin' I've heard so far from the right (their ONLY complaint) is that Obama should have been on site a week ago (probably with a roll of paper towel to start cleaning up another mess brought on by corporate incompetence.)

Where is the rage? Why aren't we frog marching BP and Failiburton executives off to face justice?

them their talking points. In all probability index cards are being distributed as we speak.

As for rage, well, I think it's building and when the magnitude of all this sets in, it'll reach an extremely loud crescendo.

But it'll be impotent rage. Because, as with Exxon Valdez, the hurt and shock of it will soon disappear into years of lawsuits, new Republican administrations, and more oil money spread around to quell any practical efforts at reform.

2. this should finish "drill baby drill"

Like all loud mouth schemes this should prove to the public just how feeble sound bytes are!
It was obvious to me from the start it was all gloss and no fact as to how safe of shore oil extraction is! but let them have a couple good years of ripping off the public and their greed will get them behind the 8 ball! I think that every penny for clean up should come directly from the oil industry! they have no guilt about raising prices at the pump for the biggest profits ever! I have no guilt about making them pay every cent for cleanup and then a threat to either clean up your safety record or we will nationalize you!

4. The command is given...will the sea obey?
Canute and the Sea:

"Bring my chair closer to the sea," Canute called. "Put it right here, right at the water's edge." He sat down and surveyed the ocean before him. "I notice the tide is coming in. Do you think it will stop if I give the command?"

His officers were puzzled, but they did not dare say no. "Give the order, O great king, and it will obey," one of then assured him.

"Very well. Sea," cried Canute, "I command you to come no further! Waves, stop your rolling!. Surf, stop your pounding! Do not dare touch my feet!"

He waited a moment, quietly, and a tiny wave rushed up the sand and lapped at his feet.

"How dare you!" Canute shouted. "Ocean, turn back now! I have ordered you to retreat before me, and now you must obey! Go back!"

And in answer another wave swept forward and curled around the king's feet. The tide came in, just as it always did. The water rose higher and higher. It came up around the king's chair, and wet not only his feet, but also his robe. His officers stood before him, alarmed, and wondering whether he was not mad.

"Well, my friends," Canute said, "it seems I do not have quite so much power as you would have me believe. Perhaps you have learned something today. Perhaps now you will remember there is only one King who is all-powerful, and it is he who rules the sea, and holds the ocean in the hollow of his hand. I suggest you reserve your praises for him."

We could use a break from God on this one too.

5. A right wing press reporter asked Obama if it will be his Katrina
I'm sure that will be the strategy, they will eventually create a false equivalence between the 2.

7. Yeah, it'll be: "It happened on his watch!"
"When will they stop blaming the Bush Administration for their incompetence?"

Glen Beck will be writing it on his blackboard; Rush trumpeting it to the skies; Mitch and Amber-Glow will be dutifully parroting it. Then it will become true. And, alas, it will be the Kenyan's fault.

9. It's Obama's own fault. His DOJ won't hold Bush/Cheney accountable for anything.

6. Have no fear
The spin is that this is Obama's Katrina. Please don't ask me to explain the tortured logic that could lead to that conclusion.

8. The same reason we didn't frog march the treasonous turds who lied America into 2 illegal wars.
They're the same people.

And they own Corporate McPravda, so no one on the tee vee and radio can talk about it. Not many in print, either, from what I've seen, are all that interested in Justice.

10. All the usual suspects have just finished a splendid dinner!
And are awaiting the evening's entertainment.

I think they should be dining on the beaches of the Gulf Coast, dressed in biohazard suits ready to clean up some tar.
