Long term effects of oil spills.
I'm running into a lot of offshore drilling advocates at my University who maintain that spills don't have any long term ecological damage and the environment always recovers. Now is there any study or investigation that disproves this? Any particular examples with long term damage done? I've looked around in NOAA for the Exxon Valdez spill but their response was "It depends" W T F. BTW, Google hasn't been my friend this time.

I personally don't like offshore drilling, however if there is no long term damage, I would understand why so many wouldn't care.

John.

2. Google "beach tar." I am not looking forward to it on our
heretofore pristine beaches.

4. Invite them to dinner
Feed them shrimp and oysters from the Gulf.

Tell them to put their mouths where their words are.

5. Well, FOX news said....
So even these birdbrains will listen, that there are still effects 21 years after Exxon Valdez. All you have to do is dig down a few inches and there is still oil that has not decomposed or been biodegraded. Ask them how long they want to wait, 10 years? 100? 1000? According to that show on Discovery network, 10,000 years after humans, the environment will recover completely.
