Sarah Palin hacking case ends in convictions
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The 22-year-old son of a
Democratic Tennessee lawmaker has been convicted
on two charges in the hacking of Sarah Palin's e-
mail account while she campaigned on the
Republican presidential ticket in 2008.

The federal court jury reached its verdict Friday
against David Kernell after four days of deliberation.
He was found guilty of obstruction of justice and
unauthorized access to a computer, but was
acquitted on a charge of wire fraud.

The jury was deadlocked on a charge of identify
theft. Prosecutors reserve the right to have a new
trial on that charge. The charge of obstructing an
investigation has a maximum 20-year prison
sentence.

7. anything other than probation would be excessive
Yes he should pay reparations and legal fees - it was a stupid thing to do, but to lose his civil freedoms and any future he might have as a professional requiring licensing for ANYTHING in his future is just shameful. It's a lifetime punishment for a stupid adolescent dare. Justice, my shiny organic microfiber ass!

absolutely shamefully ridiculous bunch of trumped up bullshit.

Conviction is so at odds with the intent of those laws but hey, it's what passes for "justice" these days. Idiots in the prosecution. If I am ever mayor of a city, which could happen some day, you better watch out. I have a special little nasty place in my shriveled black heart that I reserve for prosecutors who trump shit up so they can have a nice feather on their resume.

Those people don't belong in the legal profession, upholding "law", or worse, graduating to the bench.
