Why Arizona's immigration bill is somewhat of a nonissue....
Police can and do already pull people over based on nothing but a person's race. All they have to do is say you were driving erratically

The bad thing about Arizona's law is that now police departments can be sued for not racially profiling.

But I find it odd that some people seem to think racial profiling was just instituted with this law.

I think it's because now national politicians(yes even Obama) have a scapegoat to blame for their failure to address racial profiling.

1. It wasn't invented by this law but it was legalized by this law.
It isn't scapegoating to hold the state government of Arizona responsible for their own behavior. But you're right, there is racial profiling all over this country. Arizona sure didn't invent that.

3. I think they're trying to make their base too crazy to think
which shouldn't be very hard. :)

5. Barbara Kingsolver's first novel, The Bean Trees, describes
the unblinking racism in AZ in a quiet way. This is something that is not special to AZ but that is all over the Southwest, including California.

Fat clue to freepers: if you don't like brown people, don't invade Mexico. lol

7. It was not just instituted by this law, but it WAS given legitimacy by it. nt
