10 amazing truths you already suspected, By Mark Morford

Part IV! Pink fried chicken, Oklahoma vaginas, French G-spots

This much you already know:

1) The Bible is more violent than the Quran. Wait, what? Really? It's true... sort of. Don't tell this fine racist patriot, but turns out the Bible, America's favorite misinterpreted hunk of swiped fairly tale mythology, is packed like "Saw IV" with wraths and attacks, smitings and genocides, hacked-off limbs and fiery explosions in the sky. Whereas, despite its bad rap and its rather nasty "convert-the-world" directive, the Quran's scriptures are largely peaceful documents that've been hijacked and distorted by fundamentalist jackals for political purposes, to justify all sorts of bias, intolerance and violence against those they hate and fear. Sound familiar?

2) High fructose corn syrup is nasty, obesity-causing swill. I know, right? But here's something you might not know: As a columnist who writes, let's say "unflatteringly" about fast food and the noxious ingredients therein, I've received sneering little letters in the past from the Corn Refiner's Association when I've attacked their sticky cash cow, as they try to claim their synthetic goop is no worse for you than sunshine and flowers. Lying is fun!

Fact: HFCS "prompts considerably more weight gain than sugar," says a big new Princeton study. Fructose also scars the liver. It's nasty stuff, it's in everything from ketchup to soup to the despicable Double Down sandwich, and it's inextricably tied into the federal corn subsidy and the impenetrable farm bill, which in turn is guarded like the Pope's own porn collection by one the most powerful, ruthless government lobbies in America. Upshot: Until the Obama admin takes on the brutal farm lobby, this gummy poison is going to keep right on making everyone thick and fat and stupid. ...

1. Oh, you should have posted this one
7) You can tell a person's political affiliation just by looking at his face. Well, obviously. Do you look severe and constipated, nervous and ruddy, fearful the gays are coming to convert your cat and steal your fetish porn? You're a Republican. Do you look warm and approachable, calm and likable, slightly insane and mushy as a tofu popsicle? You're a Democrat.

But there are exceptions. For example: Do you look like the Pillsbury Dough Boy violently crossbred with an encephalitic troll who just so happens to look exactly like your creepy Uncle Paul who always insists on kissing you on the lips, wetly, with tongue, lingering for just a little too long? You are, of course, Glenn Beck.

5. Shore 'nuf
I do think I can tell a persons political affiliation just by looking at them. Kind of like I can tell a male from a female pot plant long before they start flowering, it's just something that if one is paying attention and live to be 62 like me you can do.

9. Drink Mexican coke. It's made from cane sugar and you can really taste the "cola" in the drink.

10. No, that would be the OLD Testament. The Quran is more violent and biased than the NEW T.

11. "The Bible is more violent than the Quran."
Ok? So? Kind of irrelevant at this point. I also couldn't care less which book is more violent, OR which religion did what in the past. In fact, the real ignorance in today's world is the people that justify or defend the actions of Islamic extremists because "just look at what Christians/the Catholic Church/the Crusades did in the past!!!!

Are you serious? No one who went on the Crusades is alive today. None of its victims are alive. No one who burned people or was burned at the stake is still around. You're going to defend the actions of those who take innocent lives today, in our enlightened world, because some ignorant thugs during the dark ages did stuff too?

at an auto-da-fe in Mexico.

We do stake-burnings differently now. We ruin people's reputations and lives. The scientists who warn us about global warning for example.

Of course there are all the abortion killings as well.

No, it shouldn't be used as an excuse for radical Islam, but that's more nationalism than religion. Religion is just used as a back-up excuse for what you want to do politically. Same as in N Ireland.

15. The breast cancer one kills me.. Honestly, its such an industry, if they ever
found a cure, do you think that we'd know about it? How much do they rake in for their walks and pink merchandise? How many years do they need to study the breast cancer... AND why is it increasing in women? A mamogram shoots radiation into the breast. There are other tests that work without squeezing the hell out of a woman's breast while shooting radiation into it. Think about it, men get breast cancer too.. what are they using to test their chest? Def. not squeezing their breasts. My doc told me to never, never, never get the mamogram test.. use the alt, I am way too big and my breasts are full of fibrous tissues.. the radiation would be virtually trapped for 6mos to a year after exposure... possibly giving me cancer in the first place.

16. AND why would anyone not believe in a G-Spot?
Women can tell you it def. exists and to hit it right for the Big-O!!! LOL.

AND the HFCS shit pisses me off like none other. Its in everything. Bread, cereal, crackers, ketchup, juice, tea... Its in everything. It drives me nuts. Its expensive enough to fill up the grocery cart, but to know that there is little alt to the HFCS really sucks... along with all the added chemicals, dyes, preservatives. AND why is it foods produced naturally without that crap have to be called organic like its some strange oddity.. Why aren't we calling the other foods chemically altered crap? When the Jamie Oliver food revolution was airing I wish he would explain about HFCS a bit better.. I'm not sure if the UK has HFCS products? I would think it would be banned because of the GMO issues... AND I wish he had tapped into that monster GMO's... I think the increase of cancer and disease and allergies are a direct correlation to the amount of toxins that are in air, water, and directly introduced as fuel energy for the body with the food choices we have to buy.

It pisses me off that the really big issues that need to be addressed are slowly tweaked and capitulated away because of the political process, the money, the special interests, the corporations that are killing our planet and us for profit. We need to limit corporate influence. We need to target the lobbyists and the special interest groups from these huge corporate conglomerations. On one hand you have Michelle Obama growing an organic veggie garden and hula-hooping with school children to try to counter obesity, but you have the husband taking campaign money from big agra, big pharma, big oil/ coal/ nuc, big insurance industries... all industries which directly harm the health and well being of people and their health. These environmental issues are not just hippie- dippy, peace-nic issues, these are survivor issues. Quality of life issues. This earth is the only place we have to live. We need to strike a balance that allows for equitable sharing and sustainability for all of earth's inhabitants (not just people either) ALL. AND it pisses us off when the representatives who are elected to look after our well being, refuse to do what needs to be done without compromising away the good stuff that we really need... Like a single payer health care solution or at least a Public Option in that Insurance Industry Protection bill that was just passed as historic "health care". AND now Big Oil and corrupt politicians who cared little for regulations or protections have just created one of the worst ecological disasters in the Gulf of Mexico. Big Coal, corrupt politicians, and bought off inspectors who cared more for profits than protections for workers, have just killed 29 miners in WV and 2 in KY. Enough is enough. Even the Dems need to be changed out. We need a better mix of representatives than a predominantly elected lawyers who are trained to cut deals and corners. We need professionals who understand health issues, environmental issues, military, scientists, economists, Union reps, and women (moms) who would even out the disastrous crap that men fiddle around with like leave issues, time management, wages, work fairness, and smart/ safe child care for all America's children.
