Goldman-Sachs richie ricks have stopped smiling...
"All told, they formed a "Goldman Sachs conveyor belt," the panel said, that dumped toxic mortgage securities into the bloodstream of the financial system." (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/29/goldman-sachs-case-sent-t_n_557884.html)

=========================

That is the charge that will be handed over to the Justice Dept by the SEC.

If they knowingly dumped these "toxic mortgage securities" into the American financial system, that could be the basis for prosecution?

As of now, the source of this story is a "knowledgeable" person. But, if this is true, the case is no longer just a civil matter, it could be a criminal matter. The Dept of Justice will have to carefully review these charges.

1. Well, corporations are people now
Let's put Goldman Sachs in the can. How does that work exactly?

2. In all seriousness, I have a suggestion about that
1. Imprison the Board of Directors, or at least the CEO, COO, CFO, and President. The BoD represents "The Company," and if "The Company" has committed a crime, then these are the ones who perpetrated it.

2. In addition to incarcerating the BoD, determine the sentence appropriate for the crime committed, and put "The Company" under direct governmental control for the full length of that sentence. When a real person is imprisoned, that person is under the direct control of the government, so it's only appropriate that an artificial person be treated the same. During the sentence, all of "The Company's" profits above a certain level should become the property of the government, in the same way that most work performed by a prisoner ultimately serves the government.

This assumes, of course, that Goldman Sachs is guilty.

10. They would just cease to become a person, then come back as a different person.
Just like everybody else does when they're in trouble.

3. Good luck with that.
You'll have more luck putting Prince Albert in a can. The rich in this country don't have to play by the same rules you and I do. They, like the B.F.E.E. will never pay for their crimes.

Welcome to the new world order.

4. What's the crime and what's the punishment?
I thought that BushCo's first act was to make crime legal?

5. That would be up to the judge, jury, and prosecutor...
I would think?

What would be the crime?? Fraud? False statements under oath to Congress? Theft? False advertising? What else?

7. Selling "shit" by deception.
Deceiving unsuspecting victims into believing that they were buying AAA stock?
