Brilliant post I saw on Facebook. Had to share!

YOU WANT TO GET MAD? We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, but now you get mad! You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President. You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy. You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted. You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.. You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us. You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war. You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq. You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people. You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans. You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden. You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed. You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city drown. You didn’t get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich. You didn’t get mad when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of our tax dollars were redirected to insurance companies for Medicare Advantage which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same services that Medicare provides. You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark, and our debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark. You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans… oh hell no. AND NOW YOU’RE MAD !

2. I guess this was originally written by a DUer...
I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the author--but this
awesome commentary is from a DUer who posted it here. It's
gone viral and has been circulating on FB for a week or so.

It's awesome!

3. I cleaned it up for you a bit.
After The 8 Years Of The Bush/Cheney Disaster, Now You Get Mad?

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq.

You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn't get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.

You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when Bush said he wasn't concerned about Bin Laden, just a few months after 911.

You didn’t get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn't get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.

You didn’t get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.

You didn’t get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens died over an 8-year period because they had no health insurance.

You didn’t get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.

You finally got mad when a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick...oh hell no.

75. Huge paragraphs are hard to read. I wish that more people would write using more paragraph breaks.
Look at newspapers where frequently a paragraph is only a couple of sentences long. I would much prefer even artificially short paragraphs to ones that go on and on. After all, the point is to have what is written read, right?

18. Isn't that difficult...
I have some anti-Obamers on my FB. It's no big deal--I can't expect
that people from every corner of my world will agree with my politically.

However, it is disturbing to see some of the more radical stuff go by.

That would really piss me off is someone had the Obama/prayer malarkey
on their FB. I would consider dropping them, especially if it wasn't
a real close pal.

Ahhhh...the joys of FB! I only have 150 friends. I don't know how those
with 300, 500, etc FB connections do it!

One is a "pro-life" Catholic; the other is a fundamentalist Christian who works in a government office with an elected Democrat as a boss (and who is up for re-election this year!!!). The hypocrisy of of these so-called Christians praying for someone else's death sickens me, and I'm not even religious myself.

Oh, and I love the OP. If any other closet tea-party Facebook "friends" crawl out of the woodwork, I'll have to blatantly post it on my wall!

64. Nope. She truly meant it.
It took me aback to see she became a fan, so I took another look at her info, where it states that she's a conservative and a christian. Oh, and she lives in Arizona now!

Most of the time if it's someone I know, I just add them without looking at their profile. The funny thing is that she was a clingy tag-along in high school who wanted to hang out with us, without any encouragement on our part. I always thought she was annoying, and not very bright. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

38. another version of the list
the recitation of the list has been around for about seven years
going through the rote again is not brilliant, it is a drill
it is sometimes a daily drill for partisans
the repetition of the variant theme makes it a chant, mantra
or something resembling red buttons' 'never got an award/dinner' string of jokes
i can never finish a repeat of the list anymore
it is tedious

Obviously it doesn't make sense that it would be around for 7 years, based on what is in the list. Perhaps this is a way for you to disregard it because it is really aimed at people like you, but that is not what is in question right now. Right now, I call Bullshit and woud like to see you show me a 7 year old version of that list.

and, it was similar when Bill Clinton was president - all the Republics who didn't care about deficits under Reagan & Bush 1 suddenly became deficit hawks. It's how Republicans have operated since Nixon - destroy the opposition when the opposition is in power.

78. The group behind the teabaggers
was registered over 2 years ago - they were going to be protesting hard no matter which Democrat won office, and we'd be having debates on DU if it was because Hillary is a woman instead of Obama being black.

Bill Clinton was called a murderer, a rapist, a serial rapist,a commie draft dodger, a Nazi, a socialist, etc... he and/or Hillary had Vince Foster killed because she had been having an affair with him... on the other hand, she was also a closet lesbian and because of healthcare, was Hitlery. Don't forget, she was also a commie because she said it takes a village to raise a child, and don't forget all the criticism of her hairstyles and clothing, and the fact that her daughter was "ugly" (John McCain) and "the president's dog" (Rush Limbaugh)

At least now, we have the MSNBC evening lineup, Colbert and the Daily Show to fire back. Back, in the 90s, there was no media voice to fire back at the right.

61. I understand that
but, if you post it on FB or elsewhere, you should update it for current data.

67. I totally agree!
It would be more effective with a couple of updates. Many people have just cut and pasted it.

62. This would be like an atomic bomb in the fight against Teabaggers
As their toxic rhetoric gains more traction, it's refreshing to remember these truths and the deep-seated damage they continue to do. Eight years of failure and scandal at every level of government isn't undone at the drop of a soap. Thanks for sharing this!

a few months ago and I copied it and saved it and have been posting it all over the net for everytime a troll or freeper shows up telling lies. I have sent it to friends and relatives too. I have seen different versions of it all over..

66. Actually don't like these implications.
There seems to be a trend of thought amongst alot of DU'ers and our party in general that if you weren't interested in politics before November 2008, you aren't allowed to be now. So if I was apathetic during the 2008 General Election, but now want to get involved, I'm not welcome?

68. Depends on what your motivation is...
What made you suddenly interested in politics? If it is because you resent the fact that a large majority of Americans elected a non-white President then you read the implications correctly. If you were suddenly empowered because of the above then you're certainly welcome.

Pretty cut an dried.

72. You are misinterpreting the original post.
It has nothing to do with whether or not you were or are into politics. It has to do with what you support and what you don't. Did you support all the things on the list and then oppose health care? If not then the post was not directed at you...

Hell I wrote this when I still had hopes for a good health care bill. Between the HCR, offshore drilling, gay rights, Nuclear Power and constitutional violations I'm pissed at the current administration as well.

77. It's not directed at you. It's directed at hypocrites.
Primarily of tea-bagging stripe who are carrying on as if they were born yesterday. They have no clue how badly they have been misinformed, played to a tee by fear manipulators, sadly revealing a pinnacle of ignorance and hypocrisy that for some reason the press can't let go of. It's too surreal to be believed.

Like you, we all can perhaps mark our entry (and exit, and entry...) into political awareness and discourse. The only requirement is that you use your head and your heart, don't put your own needs above anyone else's, and don't forget to smile...:)

Not if we can't afford the cost!

You're not by any chance commenting on the Health Insurance Industry and Big Pharma Protection Act, are you?

It went somewhere. How many trucks would it take to move 10 billion dollars in cash?
