A note to DU posters; placing the "n/t" or "eom" signifiers inside the message field
defeats the whole purpose of it.

9. I'm new to DU and
have no idea what "n/t" or "eom" mean (so, therefore, haven't defeated any purpose - that I'm aware of). Just only figured out what "K and R" mean so if you could explain what "n/t" and "eom" are, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

that have no content - the message is simply in the Subject line. Welcome to DU :hi:

21. A courtesy to people that connect to the internet with a dial-up connection.
It can sometimes take up to a minute to open a reply when the board is busy or the thread is long, and it just saves them from wasting this time to open up a reply with no content.

23. thank you for posting this, I've been getting really annoyed lately
when people don't put n/t or eom in the subject line. Even if you're not on dial-up, it's a pain in the ass to click on a post only to get a blank message field.

32. There are some message boards where you have to add text
inside of a post. I think some people may be in the habit of adding "nt" inside of their posts because of that.

40. There's also when one runs out of space in the title and can't put either n/t or eom there.
I put n/t or nt in the title if there's space and eom in the message body if there isn't.

Either way, quit whining about it people. :eyes:

43. Not likely, too many people get some perverse pleasure out of inconveniencing
others. I think it stems from personal feelings of inadequacy.

But there are a few who just don't know, it is for them that I posted it.
