4. let me know if that works...

How did it go today? I didn't get there until almost 3...my daughter in Tucson called me and said she wanted to come too.
There was still a pretty good crowd - they were hitting a pinata with Arpaio's pic on it :P

8. Perfect.
And as a Great Lakes States resident, I just want to say to Arizonans who voted for this bullshit--if when in the next 10 years you can't sustain your fucking suburban sprawl and lawns and golf courses anymore, if you even THINK about trying to steal our water, everyone from our Irish/Italian/Polish/Swedish/Norwegian/Mexican/Dominican/Cuban/Chinese/Vietnamese/Cambodian/Thai/Indian/Pakistani/Persian/Iraqi/Nigerian-immigrant-built-cities will come out to help beat you down.

Dry up. Your DESERT state needs to go back to the number of people it can actually sustainably support. Yeah, you'll lose a whole bunch of Republican seats in the House--cry me a river...oh wait, you can't. You're too dehydrated.

the term witch to mean the ugly things you want it to mean. She's just evil.

11. I feel sad for Arizona.
Edited on Mon Apr-26-10 12:34 AM by Blue_In_AK
Too bad your governor didn't quit like our former half-term ex-embarrassment did. That's the one thing she got right.

I'm hoping that the law will be such a huge failure and complication that it will die a hasty death. Surely cooler heads will prevail.

13. Our governor is a half term governor (praying she won't get elected)
She was the sec of state. When Obama took Janet Napolitano, Brewer was next in line. :(

Our lovely half term governors had dinner together last nite. Wonder if they had Mexican food:eyes:

Edited on Mon Apr-26-10 12:50 AM by Blue_In_AK
Oh, my god...

I hadn't considered that your governor is a half-termer, too. Thanks for reminding me. Your attorneys general must be elected, right? In Alaska, the AG is an appointee of the governor. Both systems of picking an AG are subject to abuse.

17. Yep - it came across my facebook page.
I became a fan of Brewer just so I could write on her wall. I wonder if Sarah is going to campaign for Brewer. Ugh! In this state, that could give her the edge. Help us all.

Yeah - our AG is elected, as is our governor, we elected Janet Napolitano. It's just that when Janet left, this is the screwy law we had to live with.

15. For a half-termer...she's been busy...
From her Wiki page:

Governor Brewer signed Arizona SB1070 into law, making it "a state crime for illegal immigrants to not have an alien registration document", and requiring police "to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants."

Jan Brewer also signed legislation that entitled persons in Arizona to carry guns into bars, unless the bar has specifically stated that guns are not to be permitted. She also signed a bill that allows Arizona citizens to conceal weapons without having to get a permit.

Arizona is essentially in a state of budget crisis. The governor has repeatedly called on the state legislature to work together to find solutions and to work across party lines to reach a solution. In addition, the governor has called for a state sales tax hike. (Its already 9.65% where I live)

Jan Brewer signed a bill repealing legislation put into place by the former governor Janet Napolitano<12>, which had granted domestic partners of state employees the ability to be considered "dependents," similar to the way married spouses are handled.<13>

Discontinuation of S-CHIP and clawback of AHCCCS
S-CHIP in Arizona is known as "KidsCare." By enacting the 2011 budget, Brewer and the legislature have eliminated the Arizona variant of the State Children's Health Insurance Program program that provides health insurance to uninsured children. She eliminated free health care for more than 310,000 now enrolled in the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, the state’s Medicaid program. The budget also eliminates the Kids Care program that provides nearly free care to more than 40,000 children of the working poor.

Gotta get her out by Nov , hope there is something left of this state to govern!!!!!

But in my worst nitemares it wasn't this bad.

thanks for posting that. I'm bookmarking, and when I am making calls for Goddard - I will have that close by.
Let's just hope there is nothing else added to that list.:scared:

18. This is a moral issue that doesn't neccessarily fall along
conservative/liberal lines because alot of pro-business conservatives are for immigration and alot of pro-social safety net liberals think that we should take care of our own people first. Obama taking on the issue might add latinoes to his coalition but it might just lose working class whites who'll see this as bringing in more workers to compete with them while they're still hurting in the economy. The sad thing is that this is one of the few opportunities he has to do anything on this issue. Plus don't ask don't tell is still on the table along with this climate change bill. If only he'd finished health care sooner.

21. I totally agree about healthcare. If only they finished sooner, he would be much further ahead.
If they're smart - imho - they'll get immigration started before the midterms but leave the fighting till after.

What seems to be missing from this administration is someone that can frame the debate. Besides Obama.
Why is it that the repugs are winning the message wars? It's insane. If only Howard Dean still ran the DNC, and if Barbara Boxer was head of the Senate....just maybe we could be winning the message wars and therefore getting alot more done.
