Ladies and Gentlemen Section G:

G. A PERSON MAY BRING AN ACTION IN SUPERIOR COURT TO CHALLENGE ANY
OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION
OF THIS STATE THAT ADOPTS OR IMPLEMENTS A POLICY THAT LIMITS OR RESTRICTS THE ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS TO LESS THAN THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY FEDERAL LAW. IF THERE IS A JUDICIAL FINDING THAT AN ENTITY HAS VIOLATED THIS SECTION, THE COURT SHALL ORDER ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. THAT THE PERSON WHO BROUGHT THE ACTION RECOVER COURT COSTS AND
ATTORNEY FEES.

2. THAT THE ENTITY PAY A CIVIL PENALTY OF NOT LESS THAN ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS AND NOT MORE THAN FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR EACH DAY THAT THE POLICY HAS REMAINED IN EFFECT AFTER THE FILING OF AN ACTION PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION

Yes indeedy you read that right: ANYONE who is upset that this law isn't being enforced vigorously enough can sue, damn near any agency of the state, and if they prevail, not only are their court costs paid, but the loser is fined at least $1,000 a DAY, not from the time you win , but from the time you FILED SUIT, meaning that if an average lawsuit takes 1 year + from filing to final verdict that's a MINIMUM fine of $300,000+ every time.

So how does that help you, seeing as how you OPPOSE enforcement of the law?

Well, funny thing about illegal immigration; it's not just from Mexico or Central America. In fact, according the DHS CANADA is #4 on the list of top countries of origin for illegal immigrants, and Poland is #10 and Ireland is #17 (noticing anything in common about these countries?).

That's where you come in. You see, you are TERRIBLY UPSET at the ravages to American culture being wrought by this unchecked flood of Canadians and Poles and Irish coming into our country (just what IS a "Timbit" anyway?, and how the hell do you even pronounce "Paczki" let alone keep its jelly filling from spilling all over you? And don't even get me STARTED on the Irish, with their blatant refusal to integrate, and their open defiance of America what with their instance of waving Irish flags on St. Patty's day)

Updated to add that the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (h/t) didn't support the bill:

The Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) remains in opposition to Senate Bill (SB) 1070. The provisions of the bill remain problematic and will negatively affect the ability of law enforcement agencies across the state to fulfill their many responsibilities in a timely manner.

While AACOP recognizes immigration as a significant issue in Arizona, we remain strong in our belief that it is an issue most appropriately addressed at the federal level. AACOP strongly urges the U. S. Congress to immediately initiate the necessary steps to begin the process of comprehensively addressing the immigration issue to provide solutions that are fair, logical, and equitable.

Should SB 1070 be signed into law by the Governor of Arizona, law enforcement professionals in the State of Arizona will enforce the provisions of the statute to the best of their abilities.

Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 11:31 AM by Motown_Johnny
complaining that they are not screening people who might be illegal Polish and Irish Immigrants?

That will make them check white people too? Or at least it will bankrupt the state (as if that is a good thing).

*Edit to add*

do we start with the small towns since they would be easiest to bankrupt?

8. I'm not sure that opponents of the law will even have to do this.
There will likely be plenty of lawsuits against police and local governments by racists who are angry that the brown people down the street haven't been removed yet. This by itself may be enough to force a repeal.

9. Not so fast there, Monkey Boy.
You bring suit against the "adoption of a POLICY" that limits the Federal Law.
not suit against anyone who carries out or does not carry out the Arizona law.
Only if there is proven policy can your idea be applied.

12. The diarist's statement was off, but
same difference.

A PERSON MAY BRING AN ACTION IN SUPERIOR COURT TO CHALLENGE ANY
OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE THAT ADOPTS OR IMPLEMENTS A POLICY THAT LIMITS OR RESTRICTS THE ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS TO LESS THAN THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY FEDERAL LAW...

This policy basically invites lawsuits.

14. Here is the trick question. Its no good for Canadians but plenty good for other illegals.
Are the Toronto Blue Jays in the American or National league? HA! They are in the American league!! Even though they are feriners they are in the American League... for some reason. While you may not have snagged a Canadian(they know about that) you may have caught a Czech, or Ukranian, or Icelander. Simple questions to simple solutions... or sumpthin like that.:smoke:

I know its disturbing and I promise I will fight it cause that is my job but in the mean time...Gawd this is funny!
