I Support Abortion Rights, But not so much Abortion itself...
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 12:40 AM by Indi Guy
I don't like abortion; I don't know anyone who actually "likes" it (except for the global elite who use it as a way to diminish & control world population).

Of course, women should automatically have the right to immediate abortion -- whether or not their health is threatened.

Where I'm not so much for abortion is where thinking women can help save our society -- by having children who might think like Mama.

5. Yes I am thoughtfully pro-choice, but please re-examine why I think that...
...some women might want to have their thoughtful legacy live on in their offspring.

2. Uh, nobody likes abortion
Nobody likes gallbladder surgery, either, but both operations save lives.

It sounds like you're solidly in the pro choice column.

4. I've been involved in a few abortions, as a friend or as a potential father;
it's always been a sad event, not a decision made lightly. But always legal and safe, as it always must be.

6. It's
pro "choice". "Choice" is the key word. It's not pro abortion, it's pro choice of an abortion if the woman feels she should have one.

7. "Diminish & control world population."
Oh my goodness! Yes, safe hospital abortions are a TERRIBLE way to control population. I MUCH prefer war, famine, and disease, the approved method of "world population control" in countries without abortion or birth control.

11. You're preaching to the Choir with me...

I'm in total agreement with you. However, there are world influences which want to diminish the birth rate globally. Do a little digging.

8. The people who love abortion are the anti-abortionists
Without it, they wouldn't have a reason for their attention whoring.

9. OK Guys - The Only Reason I said "Nobody Likes Abortion" is because...
...opposing ideologues promote that pro-choice folks actually "like" the idea of abortion. Thoughtful supporters of womens' rights should keep this in mind.

The right to abortion (although lawful) somehow isn't as attractive sounding as the right to free speech. Just because you're avidly for free speech, doesn't mean that you're avidly "for" abortion.

In our discourse, shouldn't we make that distinction?

10. To hate abortion and try to talk others out of it is fine as long as the final choice is theirs.

12. I'm AGAINST executing young women
If abortion is Murder, that's the logical conclusion of outlawing abortion.

Ask a anti-choicer what they think an appropriate punishment should be for abortion. ANY elective abortion -- why should the innocent pre-born baby suffer?

THAT is one of the most effective bits of real-life activism anyone can do. Yes, some of them will go along with the idea that execution is appropriate, but for most people, it forces them to get their priorities in order. I never cease to be amazed how much mental upheaval it causes in "Right to Life" folks who are only just going along for the ride.

13. How do you feel about menstrual cycles?
Do you fret every month about the possibility of a fertilized egg being swept out of a woman's body?

14. I have no problem with abortion.
Had one, was relieved, got on with my life. No sadness, trauma, depression or even second thoughts. Have quite a few friends who had an abortion, none were traumatized or are walking around permanently wounded by the "tragic" event.

The common emotion- relief. I am pro abortion in the same way I am pro tooth extraction all the way to pro heart surgery.

15. Same here.
I found out I was pregnant, made an appointment and had the abortion. No agonizing, sadness, or regrets.
