I Think Arizona Republicans Are COUNTING On The Law Being Overturned
Edited on Sat Apr-24-10 10:21 PM by WeDidIt
They WANT it overturned before it goes into effect so they would have an old bogey man to blame for all their problems, the courts.

They know this thing is a cash cow for trial lawyers because it will provide for suits from those who are required to prove they are citizens and assholes who complain because the police DON'T as some brown person to prove they are a citizen.

If the law actually goes into effect for 30 days, Arizona will go broke, and the assholes who wrote the piece of shit damned well know it. They want the courts to overturn it before it can go into effect so they can use that to political advantage.

1. Don't forget they also passed a bill that made candidates show their birth certificates
that happened this week too

If there is some master plan they have worked up it is for some law enforcement official to confront Obama (on camera of course) and asks for him to prove his citizenship.

8. Oh, the state legislature has been very busy.
Arizonans may now carry concealed firearms. Wouldn't you just love to be a cop in this state? And, if passed, a plan called the Grand Canyon Diploma will allow (read coerce) kids to leave school after the tenth grade. One repuke legislator says that students don't really need "seat time." WTF? Bye bye public education. It's been nice knowing you. Maybe they can give tenth graders guns, along with their fabulous, dumbed down diplomas.

5. Along with
making candidates show their birth certificates, they should also be required to take a sanity test. That would kick Palin out of the running and might have saved us from bush.

If Arizona goes broke, it will be a lesson to the rest of the country showing what happens when you let rethugs have their way. I just don't want anyone getting hurt or killed over this.

9. I agree. The way to get rid of the Arizona law is to make them enforce it.

11. I suspect that myself ...

That's clearly what has been going on in Oklahoma with the legislature passing at least one law that, in substance, had already been shot down by a court.

In OK they knew it would vetoed, so now it's something they'll use in various campaigns, the people who voted for it at least being able to say something like "We tried to restrict abortion, but the Democrats kept us from it. We need more Republicans in office."

Things are likely more complex in Arizona with this, but there certainly seems to be an element of what you're suggesting going on.
