People who vote against their own self-interest

We know, for a rock-hard fact, that many GOPers are themselves hurt by the policies that the GOP supports.

We know that many Latino/Hispanic voters are GOPers (which I personally just do not understand, but I've witnessed it myself)

What's to say that many of the Latinos in Arizona, the GOPers, won't feel the same way about this immigration law? Historically, they've proven to vote against their own interest in many other ways, why should this be different?

Many Latinos who are here legally are as bigoted as Caucasions about illegal Latinos. I have witnessed this myself.

So why would Latino GOPers switch sides over this issue??

4. For the same reason that so many Democrats

vote the "lesser evil" every time, even if that lesser evil acts against their own best interest.

Because the other side is evil, and they will destroy the U.S. given half a chance, so we must always vote for the <insert party here> so that the WORSE evil doesn't have us for lunch.

Once the arrests start being made, that will hopefully get people to see these scumfucks for what they really are.

8. Their own PERSONAL self-interest and their home group's (self-)interest - two different things.

One of the eternal questions: Why do some members of any minority group (Black, Hispanic, women, Gay) vote Rethug?

The general answer seems to be self-enrichment and/or media attention, "celebrity": The way Ruben NAVARRETTE gets a column and now a spot on the CNN website by being a Hispanic constantly supporting Shrub and Rethugs and bashing "White Liberal males" for providing Affirmative Action to him and Clarence THOMAS and bashing all Democratic policies backed by traditional Hispanics.

9. You don't reckon that 16 hours a day of right wing talk radio indoctrination has any influence

Application of a Fairness Doctrine to insert a periodic rebuttal to the non-stop right wing brainwashing would help diffuse this complete right wing bias the talk radio audience is developing. The public air waves have been commandeered by the likes of Limbaugh and Beck and without intervention by the Government, the playing field will never return to level. The cable news shows are showing a lack of objective journalism and are simply trying to cash in on the advertising dollars by running stories to catering to a narrow audience
