And the Republicans will publicly praise him for doing the right thing. How long before that happens? After all, the healthcare reform did not piss off enough Democrats to notice. It was a major victory for our President and our Party. Thirty-two million more people will be covered. Never mind the details. They threw the single-payer and the public option overboard before any debate began.
Now, after Wall Street has left our country with 8 million unemployed, and trillions lost in savings, and laws arrogantly ignored, the Democrats are ready for another grand compromise. No need to fix the problems that caused so much grief to so many people. They prefer to get behind a secret door with one or two Republicans, and work out a "bi-partisan" deal. Nothing will be fixed but their political resumes.
So, why not just forget about letting the Bush taxcuts expire?? That would please the Republicans very much. It would help bring back some civility to the Senate. Then the Democrats can try to figure out why voters are not coming out in the next election?
