Naomi Campbell Explodes After ABC News 'Blood Diamond' Questions
Prosecutors in the Hague for the UN-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone say Campbell has refused their requests to be interviewed about the allegations that they say could help directly link Taylor, the former president of Liberia, to the possession of uncut diamonds used to fuel a campaign of terror in Sierra Leone between 1997 and 2001.

1. WTF?

"You don't forget when a girlfriend tells you she was given a huge diamond in the middle of the night," (Mia) Farrow told ABC News.

"She said during the night, some men had knocked at her door and she, half asleep, had opened the door and it was representatives of President Charles Taylor and that they had given her a huge diamond," Farrow told ABC News. "We were like, 'oh my gosh.'"

8. It sounds like the whole thing is based on Farrow saying what Campbell said to her
I think the possibility that Campbell made up the story to tease Farrow is as likely as anything else - and being caught out in a silly lie would explain her anger (that, and the fact that apparently everything makes her angry)...

3. She'd better watch out
"'I didn't receive a diamond and I'm not going to speak about that,' Campbell told ABC News before walking out of an interview and punching the camera in a producer's hand when pressed on the details."

Another assault charge would be bad for her.

6. She has some serious anger issues. She is always on edge it seems.
She also seems really selfish.

7. Campbell yeech but I did not know we had a US Ambassador for War Crimes
and an Office of War Crimes Issues in the State Department.

"The diamonds made possible the continuation of the conflict but they also profoundly profited Charles Taylor," said former chief prosecutor Steven (sp) Rapp, who is now the United States Ambassador at Large for War Crimes.

Also weird that Charles Taylor, Mia Farrow, and Campbell were simultaneous guests of Nelson Mandela.

Office of War Crimes Issues

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Office of War Crimes Issues (S/WCI) is an office within the United States Department of State.

It is charged with advising the Secretary of State and formulating U.S. policy relating to war crimes and other atrocities. The office reports to the United States Deputy Secretary of State.

The Department of State states that the office "coordinates U.S. government support for war crimes accountability in the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Iraq, and other regions where crimes have been committed against civilian populations on a massive scale" and "works closely with other governments, international institutions, and non-governmental organizations, and with the courts themselves, to see that international and domestic war crimes tribunals succeed in their efforts to bring those responsible for such crimes to justice." <1>

The current United States Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues is Stephen Rapp.
