We have our mission
While there are many on this board who have no problem with going after other Dems, I think we need to get a group together to do something else. We have to make plans to take down the following Republican candidates at all costs for the following reason:

Mitt Romney: While he might have issues problems that could take him out in advance, he is both smart and waaaay too smooth for our good. He was able to get elected in Massachusetts which says that at first smell he can slip by even the toughest crowd. If he survives the primary season regardless of his record he could be VERY dangerous for us in 2008.

John McCain: While he also might be torpedoed on the way to the convention by the Religious Right again, it is possible that might not happen. The dangerous thing about him is he can still get away with somehow being capable of appealing to non-Republicans thanks to the media fawning all over him. He'll be easier to nuke in the primaries though thanks to his issues problems.

Anyone else think of any please post, we need to get together some kind of group for taking care of the GOP's most dangerous in the primary. We have to make certain that the weakest link is the nominee to ensure that not only do we win, we destroy the Republican Party in a fashion that will make Walter Mondale's loss in 1984 look good.

5. Exactly.
We don't have to lie. All we have to do is spread the truth about these reptiles. (My apologies to all reptiles.)

2. They talked tough, testosterone all over the stage.

I have a feeling that if there was a red button that said blow up Iran, including all of its children, half of those guys would have pushed it with a smile.

They're all saying what they need to. You're concerned about the religious right, I think that if McCain keeps talking about blowing up dark-skinned non-Christians, that he'll get their votes as long as he promises to get abortion stopped at the Constitutional level along with flag burning, homosexuality, etc.

3. I realize that
But we need to make damn sure that the biggest wingnut weirdo is the one that wins the nomination at all costs. We can't play nice with these guys, they came too close to taking out the whole country.

4. Unfortunately, there are voters who will vote against their own interests.

Somebody needs to show the religious right that the Republican candidates are incapable of being pious and are just using them.

I don't want Democrats to try to be holier than them, I just want to encourage the push to show how NOT holy the Republican candidates are. I think the best bet is to keep them all at home by showing them to be unfaithful, and opportunistic, willing to say anything for a vote.

6. That's not what I want either
What I want is some nut like Brownback getting the nom, someone so far right that there is no possible way the rest of the country will swallow him. If we get someone like Brownback, the poster boy for the Religious Reich, then we've get 2008 in the bag because this guy will be an easy target after Bush's religiosity and faith-based politics. We need to get them to put up someone who comes across as more of the same, not something new.

7. i'm hearing talking heads saying romney is the winner
or at least the "most polished"

I think he can be eviscerated

his pandering policy changes, and his very "polished appearance" work against him, imo

he comes across, to me, as a slick con man
