What do you think about corporate donations?
Whenever a corporation gives to a charity they really aren't giving anything. Conservatives always say any tax imposed on a corporation is just passed on to consumers. So donations to charity are the same.

If you notice, a lot of corporations collect for charities in their stores, but when you give guess who gets the tax write off? They do, not you. I worked for corporations and they would get employees to donate. And all that money would be eventually given to a charity in the form of a big, photo-op check. Again, the corporation got the tax write off, and you didn't.

I worked for Bendix a long time ago and they threatened employees if they didn't donate to the United Way. They said no one who didn't give would ever get a promotion. And from the way they threatened workers it sounded like your job would be at risk if you didn't give. That coincidently was the same year the United Way leaders were all giving themselves huge salaries, driving around in Cadillacs and receiving huge expense accounts. I stopped giving to the United Way that year because no one is going to coerce me into donating and I am not going to give to a charity where its leaders are greedy and corrupt.

So corporations don't ever give anything to anyone. Did you see that story about three years ago about a corporation that donated about $100,000 to a charity, and then spent $15 million advertising about how they gave so much? They spent 150 times more on bragging about the donation than the donation itself.

But conservatives seem to worship corporations and think their leaders are capitalist 'gods'.
