United Mine Workers Endorse Mark Critz for Congress (PA 12th District)
Edited on Thu Apr-22-10 02:21 PM by pinto
The Repubs have targeted this race (It was held by Cong. Murtha) ~ pinto

Mark Critz received the endorsement of the United Mine Workers of America today, signaling the strong support across Western Pennsylvania for his campaign and his plans to bring jobs to the district. The Mine Workers union represents thousands of active and retired coal miners, mine construction workers, public service employees, health care workers and manufacturing workers in Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district.

"The United Mine Workers is pleased to have endorsed Mark Critz in the special election and the primary for the office of congressman for Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district," said Edward D. Yankovich, Jr., International District 2 Vice President of the United Mine Workers of America. "Mark, throughout his career with the late Congressman Murtha, has proven that he understands the needs of our members and working families in Western Pennsylvania. His commitment to creating jobs and bringing economic development to our region is unparalleled, and we can think of no one better to support than someone who is with us on the issues we care about."

Mark Critz will be a strong advocate for working families and mine workers in Western Pennsylvania. Critz has already pledged fight to bring clean coal jobs and investments in new energy industries to the district.

"I am proud to receive the endorsement from the United Mine Workers," said Mark Critz. "This group of dedicated citizens deserves a congressman who speaks for them, and in Congress I’ll always work with their best interest in mind."

"In Congress I’ll work hard to bring jobs and economic development to Western Pennsylvania. That includes pushing for investments in clean coal and alternative energy production because that will help create jobs and grow our local economy," added Critz.

In addition to pushing for new energy production and clean coal investments, Critz recently released a comprehensive jobs plan that will bring jobs to Western Pennsylvania. The plan calls for ending tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas, fighting for trade deals that protect American jobs and increase exports, providing tax credits to small businesses that create new high-paying jobs, and cutting taxes for the middle class, not the wealthy.

Millionaire Tim Burns, Critz's opponent, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has ducked questions about jobs that were lost in Western Pennsylvania when he sold his company to get rich, and is also refusing to answer for his company abusing tax loopholes that allowed him to rake in profits while shipping jobs overseas.

1. While I don't support "clean coal"
because coal cannot be clean, I like all his other stand points.

Tim Burns deserves to get his @$$ kicked and anyone who votes for him obviously hates American workers.
