3. Jefferson would be proud
Reminds me of a great statement he made in 1792, when corresponding with Douglas Hewett of Pittsburgh. Douglas wanted to know what the highest form of protected speech was, in Jefferson's eyes. A strong message that would stand the test of time and conceptualize the notion of the freedom to speak one's mind without censor or repression. Jefferson's reply was simple.

"LOL COCKS HAHA I SAID COCKS"

You are doing the man, indeed, the eternal idea that he penned into our national character and inspired the world, a great service.

9. And Jesus is portrayed so tastefully
I can imagine that in his travels as a merchant, Big Mo saw a few depictions of Jay-Jay and was all like "Yeah... I don't think so."

15. I think it's a combination of two things -
first, the prohibition against idolatry - Islam prohibits any representations of the real world, for fear of those representations being used in idolatry, thus the extraordinary use of geometric design in Islamic art and architecture.

The second is Muhammad was the prophet (just as they consider Jesus to be a prophet) and depictions of him would result in worshiping of Muhammad rather than Allah, just as christians wound up worshiping Jesus rather than god, eventually equating Jesus with god and thus creating the unholy weirdness of the trinity.

Personally I think it's all a little silly - after all, there is no true god but Jim Morrison.

11. That's fair.
I'm not interested in being brave, per se. But I hate free speech being stunted by religious zealotry of any kind.
