WTF? How many times has the hundred dollar bill been revamped?
3...4 times in the last 20 years?

2. Here's the problem. There will be so many 'versions' people won't know what is real.

5. Only if they're idiots.
Security elements make it obvious when they're real.

8. Nobody checks.
Most people see cash and the look of greed starts to glow in their eyes.

19. I always checked when I was working at a register.
Sometimes it was a pain when someone paid $1500 in 20s, but what can you do.

3. They are desensitizing you for the upcoming Ayn Rand bill
Its going to be designed for free by Goldman Sachs as a payback for the bailout. I love those guys.

9. Maybe next time they'll start adjusting the size for the sight impaired
Here in Korea they've changed the sizes on the bills to benefit those with eye sight problems

21. Many, many other countries do that
and we still don't!

We should also go to polymer-banknotes like Australia and NZ (and many other countries across the globe.) They're more durable and much harder to counterfeit than paper even with all these new anti-counterfeit measures we're adding. Plus, polymer-banknotes are more colorful :D

11. Counterfeiters get better and better
You should see some of the high quality stuff coming out of Russia.

Most people look for one or two of the security features - the watermark, color shifting ink, and the security thread are probably the most easily identifiable - and they're all being counterfeited with relative ease.

16. Is there something wrong with it being changed? They could issue different versions of it and
revamp it monthly if they wanted. We have different variations of coins, no reason to not do that with bills.

24. and only the watermark (and maybe color-changing ink) is what can be usefully checked
I caught a $100 that used to be a $5 that way

I guess you could add UV markers so the banks can double-check when the bills come in

the new $100 is a wreck (though at least it's not the dog-poo color of the $10)
