13. That is incredibly sweet. I now have to share the pics I just got in an email..
Edited on Thu Apr-22-10 04:20 PM by BrklynLiberal
The note said that the foal had just been born and when the Mother laid down, the brand new foal scrambled over and laid down on her "lap"

EDIT: Here is the quote from the email:

This is a newborn offspring of Taskin, a Gypsy Stallion owned by Villa Vanners of Oregon . These pictures were taken immediately after his birth on April 6. The mare laid down, and then he trotted around and crawled right up into her lap.
Talk about true love!

16. MY Mom would have loved this
When she was passing, we told her we were bringing a lot of photos and beloved things to her hospice room. She couldn't speak very well but she grabbed my hand and said, "The Horses." I knew she meant her calender of horses and the small sculpture of a horse, she made as a young woman.

Mom had gotten bored with crossword puzzles. She did them all in ink and she said they didn't surprise her any more.
What she did was start following the racehorses, compiling information and stats in the L.A. Times and making guesses (not betting) and then watching the race on TV. She said when she got a horse right, it was 10 times better than finishing the New York Times puzzle any day!

Any way, dear DU, thanks for the flash back.

Horses ROCK!

20. My mom loved horses too.
I have several of her things that she had collected over the years. They are nice to look at and when ever I see horses I think of mom.
