Jail time complicates man's run for Congress
For a second time, Andrew G. Zukowski is campaigning for Congress from behind bars.
The unemployed engineer was picked up by Franklin County deputy sheriffs over the weekend for violating a protection order. He pleaded not guilty yesterday and remained in jail on $50,000 bond.
Zukowski, 64, is challenging Rep. Pat Tiberi, R-Genoa Township, for the GOP nomination in the 12th Congressional District.
When the two squared off in 2000, Zukowski was jailed for assaulting a Gahanna man with a metal pipe. The man and his family purchased a home Zukowski had lost through foreclosure.
The family has since moved but had a protection order barring Zukowski from coming near them. He was arrested Saturday when he showed up at the family's new home.
