Wow, just got notice from the IRS that they didn't accept our filing.
We moved earlier in the year and could not find any paperwork saying that we got the tax credit earlier in the year. Both hubby and I really thought we did get it, just misplaced the paperwork, so we filed our taxes as if we had received the credit. We were notified today that the IRS has no record that we received a check so we need to adjust our totals because our refund will be increased.

Hubby said he was surprised they even bothered. It's not a lot of money to them, but to us it's a couple of months groceries.

Now, with this delay, I wonder how long it will take to actually get the refund.

1. If it is an efile and direct deposit you should still get refund in 2 weeks (max).

2. They corrected my addition when I was blind
which I thought was very nice of them since it increased my refund.

4. THey wouldn't let me efile with the FTH credit.
2 months later I get a letter in the mail telling me they need additional paperwork to complete the filing. Who knows when it'll come now.

7. Yeah I had a co worker who had FTH it seems they are really backed up on those.
He called them and they couldn't even give him a ballpark of when he would receive it.

6. It's running longer this year
We're used to getting our refund a week or so after we file, so this year we were getting downright paranoid when it still hadn't made its appearance in two weeks. We actually checked with our preparer to make sure they had the right bank account number. Finally got the refund after three weeks and one day. Good thing, too, because we had to turn it over to the local tax folks.

3. One return isn't a lot, but when you are talking a million returns, now that's money...
A million inocent mistakes adds up.

5. Of course if you mailed it it will take longer to get anything back.
I would give it at least 4 more weeks by mail. I'm surprised that you were notified this fast that your return was not received unless you efiled it and it was not accepted, then you must refile and see if there is a late fee for filing late. You have probably made a mistake on your return. Do you use a tax accountant?

8. We had to file paper this year
as our return was complicated. It took less than three weeks to get a refund. I was amazed and quite happy. Hope you have similar luck.

9. I filed mine in January, but FORGOT TO SIGN IT!
:banghead: I received notice 3 weeks ago, and sent off my signature...checking my account everyday to see if it's hit yet. Good luck to you. :hi:

11. Amended returns cannot have e-file nor direct deposit of refunds. I had to file a 1040X for a friend
so she could take the new educational credit.
