UN Official May Have Been (Deliberately) Shot by Afghan Police
Source: The Scotsman

UNITED Nations officials yesterday said a UN guard killed in a Taleban attack on a guest-house in Kabul last year was probably deliberately shot by Afghan police, not by a militant as originally thought.

If the Afghan police are accused of deliberately killing a UN official, it could further damage Afghan President Hamid Karzai's already strained relations with western powers, whose troops have been battling the Taleban for nine years.

Louis Maxwell, a UN security officer from the US, was killed in a 28 October attack on an international guest house where he was with other UN employees working on a planned presidential run-off election that never took place.
