Clinton: Rush Limbaugh Comment “Doesn’t Make Any Sense”
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/04/clinton-rush-limbaugh-comment-doesnt-make-any-sense.html
video at link

In my EXCLUSIVE “This Week” interview, Former President Bill Clinton told me Rush Limbaugh’s assertion that Clinton had “set the stage for violence in this country” and that “any acts of future violence” would be on Clinton’s shoulders, “doesn’t make any sense”.

Clinton marked the upcoming 15th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing on Friday with a major speech to the Center for American Progress, in which he warned that “the words we use really do matter, because there's this vast echo chamber, and they go across space and they fall on the serious and the delirious alike. They fall on the connected and the unhinged alike.”

Conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh took to the air, Friday, after the speech and said that Clinton’s remarks, which drew parallels between the anti-government sentiment in the mid-90s and present-day anti-government expressions, “just gave the kooks out there an excuse to be violent.”

Responding directly to Limbaugh, Clinton told me, “The only point I tried to make was that we ought to have a lot of political dissent -- a lot of political argument. Nobody is right all the time. But we also have to take responsibility for the possible consequences of what we say. “

Will air tomorrow on This week

2. So let me get this straight...
Clinton is to blame if anyone becomes unhinged because he acknowledged that there are crazy people in this country but Glen, Rush, Sara, etc are blameless even though they actually say things about wanting harm to come to others?

3. I remember when the Pentagon slapped Rush hard...

Back in the 90's, when Clinton sent U.S. forces to the former Yugoslavia, under U.N. command.

Rush started bleating and whining: "...for the FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, American troops will be under FOREIGN command! Clinton is selling out to the One World Govt.! W-A-A-A-A..."

Somebody went and asked a (uniformed) military historian at the Pentagon. Who said: "Well, how far do you want to go back? Mr. Limbaugh is just completely wrong about this..."

Then the historian went all the way back to the Revolutionary War, with Lafayette and Rochambeau, and rattled off all the times Americans had served under foreign commanders.

Priceless!

9. It fits the narrative that Conservative behavior is natural.
When Conservatives/Right Wingers act out, it's because they were driven to it. When the left does exactly the same thing, it shows how inwardly evil they are. The same thing applies to the shout-over behavior on talk shows - the right shouts because they are so passionate that they exceed their natural restraint, the left shouts because "they can't restrain themselves".

The underlying assumption is that conservative/right-wing behavior is natural, but left-wing behavior is twisted, perverted, unnatural. You can hear that even in the "there they go again" tone that conservatives adopt when demonizing their opponents behavior.
