Just like the weather in recent weeks, South Carolina's job market seems to be warming up.
Businesses statewide added thousands of jobs last month in stores, hotels and temporary agencies. That pushed down the state's jobless rate for a second-straight month, according to data released Friday.
South Carolina's jobless rate hadn't fallen in consecutive months for nearly three years.
In February, South Carolina ended a two-year streak of its jobless rate and number of unemployed rising every month.
The momentum continued in March:
- The state's unemployment rate slid to 12.2 percent from a revised 12.4 percent in February.
- The number of unemployed fell by 5,687 from February - the biggest one-month drop since 1976, when the Labor Department started tracking state data in its current format.
