Have you Blocked FOX NEWS on your television?

I have a satellite company and I'm being fed 200 channels. I used my DVR's filter to block Fox News from even being seen. I don't even want to scan through the programming guide and see the names Beck, Hannity, OReilly or Fox anywhere on my television. And I don't want to accidently tune into one of their programs because it would add to their viewership numbers and therefore enable them to make more money.

Has anyone else blocked Fox News?

Side story: Any time I go to a restaurant or store and Fox News is on I ask them politely to change the channel. Or I leave a note on the receipt saying I will never return to their store/restaurant if they continue to leave their televisions on Fox. I've been doing this for at least five years. The last time I went to a store where Fox was on I complained and the next day their televisions were on a sports channel instead. I think it's a good idea for all of us to protest and to stop Fox from polluting the public discourse with their distorted and dishonest programming.

What makes it bullshit? Well People who think they are superior to others often make statement such as this to make themselves feel better about themselves.

Blocking Faux is more of a statement than anything else.

What makes it insulting is that while telling others who block it they are idiots because they can't use the remote you admit to occasionally watching their bullshit. From my perspective someone who would watch their bullshit shouldn't tell anyone whether they have sense or not.

I personally think that everyone who uses that, "I have sense to or not to" really lacks the sense to know they look like idiots when suing the statement.

I do have it blocked on my internet router.
When I got the wireless router, I was setting it up, and one of the options was to block various domain(s). Just to test it, I punched in foxnews.com. Tested it, and it did indeed block it. I left it there, and one day was following some links on another website and clicked on a link that was served up on Foxnews, and was reminded that it was still blocked.

And is still to this day.

It allows me to build my own favorite list of stations I watch the most.
Faux is not on the my list!
I regretfully watch the local faux channel occasionally if there is a local issue of note.

But even before then, I couldn't stand watching any of it. It had become an entertainment routine, not journalism, and I didn't see the point. THey try to stir passions and avoid controversy to get more viewers, and all three of those are antithetical to journalism.

I started to watch CNN (I think) a year or so ago at a friend's house. The news guy lead off each story with some personal comment, like "You're not going to believe this," or "Wow, this will just make you mad," or "How could he be this stupid?" When they tell you your opinion before they show you the story, you can't trust anything they say. They've already revealed their bias.

So, I'm superior to you. :) I've stopped watching all news channels. Catch up or eat my dust. :)

not long after I heard Bill O'Reilly tell Stone Phillips on Dateline he'd like to put a bullet in Al Franken's head.

I hadn't ever really watched Fox or knew much about them at that point. I think it was around 2002 or 2003.

I'm a weather nut and on my cable lineup I had to click past Fox to get to the Weather channel.

I caught a few more glimpses of BOR in that process and that was enough for me to never want to take the chance of having that evil shit enter my home ever again.

I called the cable company and cancelled the extended package which included Fox, not having ala carte options.

Sadly in addition to the Weather Channel I also lost the only other network I ever watched, Animal Planet.

I watch Fox News sometimes in the mornings. I like to know what people are thinking. And frankly, they were the only channel that gave Hilary a fair platform in '08. I saw her on Fox more than I did on any other news network. I also like to see "regular" people interviewed on Fox. I'm not one to villify conservatives or paint them as racists, homophobes, whatever. I see people whose life experience has put them in a different place than me. It's hard to hate "them" when you actually listen to them. I'll admit I've never watched Glen Beck, O'Reilly or Hannity, though. I already have hypertension, lol.

(both now deceased) were conservative Republicans. They were not racists. They were intelligent, kind, loving people. It's because of them that I keep an open mind and listen to all points of view. As I said, when I watch Fox it's in the mornings - not for the opinions of the hosts, but to see what stories they cover and to hear the interviews with "regular" people, which they do quite often. Good people can have differing opinions on the same topic. To dispute that is just ignorant. (Not calling you ignorant, AnArmyVeteran.) I also watch MSNBC. There's a good bit of fear mongering and blatant lies there, too.
