A children's treasury of misspelled teabagger signs
Just further proves my theory that 90% of the protests are based on abject ignorance.

4. Instead of Fox news keeping them "infromed",
perhaps they should teach them to spell.

10. I use to couldn't
spell Tee Partee, now I are wun.

Seriously, I don't begrudge anyone who can't happen to spell correctly. But I just don't get those who don't take the time to research and investigate before they take a side or make a sign that is going to represent that side and their thoughts. It's typical of how these people (don't) think. They fly off the handle over something that, if they took the time to educate themselves on that topic, they would realize that they are on the wrong side. I'm sure that most of these people are decent human beings who have been lied to so many times by their news source, that they don't know who is actually acting in their best interests. And it's not the GOP, or Fox, or Limbaugh, or Palin, or the Tea Party.

13. The willfully ignorant
can be a scary and violent group. I do blame Murdoch/Fox...that man set out to brainwash the masses and he has succeeded.

And starving our public school system hasn't helped either. We are so dumb-downed...except for Entertainment News.

I wish I thought that these people were decent, but I don't. I believe many are racist and don't like educated people. And they don't THINK...they react. :scared:

I try to stay out of their way as much as possible.

11. Too bad signs don't have spell check. Then again a lot of DUers shouldn't throw stones
Edited on Sat Apr-17-10 04:16 PM by elocs
about misspellings. I've seen plenty of OPs with 4 or 5 words in the subject line and one of them is misspelled. However if you mention anything about it here you are accused of being a spelling Nazi.

I don't expect a lot from ignorant freepers or teabaggers, but I would hope for better from DUers.

12. Stop reading my mind.
I've seen several of these threads recently - sandwiched between threads with subject lines that contain equally blatant misspellings. I'd been trying to think how to gently suggest that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones without starting a flamefest.

I do think the signs are funny - but a quick review of the posts here reveals that misspelling is not an exclusively conservative trait.

15. I can't spell worth a shit.
and my grammar is just awful. And that's just not even including the typos where I drop letters at the end of words and not even the spellchecker realizes I mean the plural or the past tense.

Being a progressive doesn't require one to also be good at language. Let us hope we are willing to accept the folks who are dumb as a box of rocks as far as "school learning" but deserve a PhD in caring, consideration, common sense etc.

17. I don't always spell well, but I care enough to check.
I wish I had a dime for every time I checked Google for the spelling of a word, or its meaning. Unless somebody is dyslexic or has a learning disorder there is not much of an excuse for not going the extra mile and at least attempting to spell correctly.

To be honest I have seen many misspellings here that we like to make fun of the freepers for using. What I am saying is that they don't care enough to check or to get it right, we should. Even in our imperfection we should at least try to get it right.

18. Well Honestly?
On here I do try and still pretty much every post of mine will have some sort of language error or typo that could be nit picked. I take much greater care at work than I do on here. But if I was putting words on a great big sign I'd certainly triple check.

25. Yeah, I think with a sign I would as well. But thousands at DU read posts as well.
If they are my posts I prefer to have my words spelled correctly.

29. I would think if you are going to put it on a sign, you would ensure it is correct.
In my mind, that is the takeaway.

24. There's a big difference between a post on an Internet forum and a protest sign.
Edited on Sun Apr-18-10 08:56 AM by MindPilot
Something seen by a few people, quite possibly quickly typed from a cell phone and something like a protest sign that could very well be representing you and your side on TV.

What it shows me is not only can they not spell which is fine--English is a difficult language and a lot of people have trouble with spelling--they do not or will not research, proof read or do layout.

In the larger view they don't care. They don't care about the quality of their work; they are completely satisfied with a crappy product and I suspect that attitude is prevalent throughout their lives.

Edited for proper punctuation.
