This is Ridiculous! Brown agrees to meet rep of undocumented students

BOSTON (AP) -- Sen. Scott Brown's office says he will meet with a college student from a coalition representing undocumented students, after students staged a sit-in at his Boston office.

The announcement comes after the group launched an online petition that garnered 300 signatures asking Brown to meet with undocumented students and hear their stories.

A Brown spokeswoman said Friday that the Republican will meet with one student, a U.S. citizen, from the group in the next four to six weeks.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Only ONE student and not until FOUR to SIX WEEKS from now! Sounds to me that they probably gave the kids a line of B.S. just to get them out of his office! Just watch and see what happens, we'll probably not ever hear anything else about this in the future!

4. Tufts president asks aid for undocumented students (DREAM Act - which Kerry supports).

Tufts University President Lawrence Bacow has sent a letter to Massachusetts Sens. John Kerry and Scott Brown asking them to support a proposal that would allow undocumented college students a pathway to permanent residency and U.S. citizenship.

Bacow gave his endorsement Wednesday to the Dream Act, a bill being considered in Congress. It would open an avenue to conditional permanent residency for students illegally in the country who want to go to college.

Last year, Harvard President Drew Faust wrote a similar letter to Kerry and the late Sen. Edward Kennedy. Kerry has said he supports the Dream Act.

Brown has said he was against some proposals such as in-state tuition rates for illegal immigrants at state institutions.
