Man flips off cops, gets $4000
To man who flipped off Olathe police, a bird in the hand is worth four grand

Scott Schaper wasn’t happy when he got a ticket in Olathe. He struck back by flashing the officer the finger and giving voice to the gesture.

That got him another ticket for disorderly conduct. And now it has made him $4,000 richer.

City prosecutors dropped the disorderly conduct ticket and Olathe last week agreed its insurance company would pay $4,000 to Schaper and $1,000 to his lawyers, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri.

Yes, it turns out, people can legally use the f-word against police and also extend what the law calls the “digitus impudicus” — the impudent finger.

3. I love this story. Thanks!
I called one an asshole once and he got all pouty and said, "I'll be sure and tell the judge you called me an asshole." I replied, "I have no problem telling him myself and I will stand by that assessment." And I did just that. I told the judge the whole story and that I called the policeman an asshole. The judge started laughing and said, "You called him an asshole?" "Yes, your honor," I replied, "and based on what I've told you I would think you'd find it hard to disagree." He was laughing so hard, he could hardly get out the words, "Case dismissed."

“It’s unfortunate there are not repercussions on certain types of behavior that do not meet society norms,” he said. “What would the citizens think if the officer flipped them off?”

Fuck you, Wes Jordan. No, it's not unfortunate. It's called free speech, and it's one of the few reasons left for me to like this country.

The cop IS NOT A NORMAL CITIZEN. He/she should be held a higher standard than non-law enforcement. If a cop flicks you off, they are acting as a representative of the local government, and by proxy, the United States of America.

6. what the fuck is Chief Jordan talking about?
I've seen plenty of cops swearing at people, using obscene gestures, and threatening to arrest them on some obscure charge if people complain about their rude and offensive behavior. what a fucking hypocrite this fascist police chief is.

A bullsh*t catch-all that can be abused. Even when they trample constitutional rights, only the wealthy can afford lawyers to get out of it.

9. Better Make Sure People Around Because Some Cops Will Give You A Beating .
And then say you were resisting arrest with violence.
