– Ry asked quite a zinger:
.....here’s to hoping this foolish man goes to prison one day, who is with me?“A lot of terrible things are said about you. How do you sleep at night?” And Blankenship responded:
I don’t know what answer to give you. I will say that the way I live with it is what I said earlier. I know that every day I give the best effort I’ve got, mentally and the most compassion, and I’m doing everything I can do. I never thought a tragedy like this would happen at Massey, but that’s one element of it – I know I’ve done what I can do. The other element of it is that I’ve grown accustomed to criticism. It’s sort of like lifting weights – you build up over time. I started out in the ‘84 strike and went through the violence of the ‘85 strike, the violence of the ‘91 strike, the interactions in the political arena. The people who know me well know that basically, I just do the right thing and whatever happens, happens… I made up my mind a long time ago when I was seeing the reports of the ‘85 strike that there wasn’t any violence and I was bandaging people and treating 91 people at the hospital that I needed to do what was right. That’s what I do. I need help in getting the truth out there. I use Twitter a little bit to try to get the truth out there, but anybody that saw the Kennedy debate or knows me in person knows that I’m not at all what’s represented by the media.
