SIMON SHAYKHET

UNDATED - A 27-year-old Farmington Hills man is accused of shooting another driver in a case of road rage. Tuesday, he told the court he is not guilty. Now, we have found video of the suspect that shows a man full of hate, and it is aimed at Islam.

When we started digging on this story, we discovered some very disturbing and offensive online videos involving the suspect. When we told Farmington Hills police about it, they also found it very concerning.

YouTube video gave us a glimpse into the mind of Carl Mintz. The suspected shooter in a road rage incident Monday on Orchard Lake Road has posted countless online clips.

He claims to be part of a Jewish group dedicated to protecting Israel. On the internet, he declares Islam is the enemy.

The topics range from Israel to Michigan. In one rant, he says, "Our governor is a Canadian liberal, who you could just call her a fricken socialist because that's what she is."

1. Articles on shootings rarely indicate whether the shooter
had a CCW.

2. Most don't.
Statistically, you're more likely to be shot by a police officer than someone with a CCW. This is because CCW holders are self-selecting for being more patient and law-abiding than the national average: you have to be, in order to get the license. People who aren't patient and law abiding usually carry illegally.

A Farmington Hills man has been charged in the shooting of another driver during a fit of road rage Monday.

Carl D. Mintz, 27, was arraigned in 47th District Court in Farmington Hills on Tuesday on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm with an alternative count of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of felony firearm.

Mintz, who was licensed to carry a concealed weapon, is accused of shooting and injuring another driver in Farmington Hills. He is scheduled in court April 19 for a pre-exam conference.

"It's not like I wanted to shoot the guy," he said in court before Judge Marla Parker stopped him.

4. Guns aside, this man is disturbed, angry, and dangerous.
He has posted MANY rants on YouTube. Hate hate hate hate hate. It had to spew over somewhere, on someone, with or without a gun.

6. There are reasons for not stating if the person has s CCW - first, it is illegal
to reveal the names and personal information of license holders - even one of our former Sheriffs was prosecuted and sued for using the list of license holders as a mailing list for his re-election campaign.

Second, several states-Florida was one-started keeping records of all CCW holders involved in shooting related crimes, but found the number so small as to be insignificant and stopped keeping count because it was not worth the trouble.

Sorry to disappoint the anti gun crowd, but most of us with licenses to carry approach it all intelligently and thoughtfully.
