Are the freepers in trouble?

Donations needed to keep FR alive!!

:nopity:

"only a relatively FEW actually donate the funds to keep FR alive."

:nopity:

"Now, I'm not complaining, because we've always managed to meet our fundraising goals in the past, but it is taking longer and longer to accomplish the task. And part of that may be because it's mostly the same few dedicated FReepers providing the funds, and, along with the rest of us, I'm sure they're stretched to the limit. Sure would be nice if a few more FReepers and lurkers would lend a hand and send in a few bucks. Doesn't take much. I think our average donation is around $20, but you can send in $5, $10, $20, $30 or more, and make it a monthly contribution if you can."

2. Anyone wanna place a bet how long this FReepathon will last
Edited on Tue Apr-13-10 01:18 PM by Hawkeye-X
Someone's gotta make RimJob happy with his brand new double-wide.

Again, here is the FreeRepublic's "justification" of cost. This was posted last year, and I'm sure it's relevant now.

To: All
Free Republic Monthly Budget
Once we get our monthly donations to the point where they will cover all of our expenses, we will not need to have fundraisers.
Est. Recurring Monthly Contributions $9,329.00

Monthly Expenses
Bandwidth and Colocation $2,430
System Administation and Programming 7,000
Administrative and Taxes 10,500
Legal and Accounting 1,000
Bank Fees, Credit Card Fees, Processing Fees 800
Equip, Maintenance and Repairs 300
Office Expenses, Rents, Insurance, Telephone, ISP, Supplies, Misc. 2,500
Travel Expenses 800

25,330.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Est. Monthly Shortfall ($16,001.00)

I'd question the office expenses, and the system administration/programming expenses

They haven't programmed worth SHIT since 1996.

Surely there's not one freeper on the planet who would ask RimJob to pay his own taxes, right?

6. Add To That The "Administrative"
You know there's a slush fund burried in there...so that probably doubles your "System Administration"

Plus this is the books they make public, if they're your typical rushpublicans, you never see the real ones.

Cheers...

37. Probably because the Freepers are on dial-up...
and the rest of the world are on intelligent sites that can determine what type of connection an individual has and deliver content appropriately (yes my fave news site news.bbc.co.uk has a "text only" version).

They invest $ 7,000 in programming monthly. The site is top-notch, it just has this retro feel which is highly maintained by adding new retro-style features like ... retro, you know. It's not cheap to update old crap!!!!111!!!!!

...and those they've kicked out in a long series of purges.

They don't realize the fundamental problem with their mentality of intolerance is that it eventually narrows down to a circle of one.

10. It is not only FR - the Right in general-even the mighty GOP is LOW
on cash.
The RNC usually takes in way more in contributions than the DNC, but they are running about even this year and the GOP is spending it faster than it is coming in...this is why toe strip club, private airplane trips, shopping sprees, etc, really hurt them - potential donors see that their contributions are spent on nothing, rather than going to support their idiot candidates. Also, contributions are going to the very very RW instead of the RNC and real super RW pinheads who have NO chance of success are being financed by the 'baggers and others on the fringe.

It ALL hurts the GOP...ain't that a shame...

Doesn't some big anonymous donor make up the difference at the last minute every quarter?

And yes, I love how fr hasn't changed since 1995. Where does the money go, I wonder?

Hmmm.
